Esports continues to grow and top players are making more money than ever before. New sponsors, tournaments, and technology are making it possible for esports athletes to make a great living playing video games. In some cases, esports athletes are making more than traditional sports stars. Fans of esports can play free online slots when they are not following the great esports action. With 2018 nearly over, here are the top esports earners for 2018.

  1. Anathan Pham – $2.25 million

Melbourne’s Anathan Pham became an “esports millionaire” this year. Pham is just 18-years old, but already he is an experienced esports athlete at the top of his chosen game. The DOTA 2 player is currently the No. 11 ranked player in the world. Pham participated with his team OG at the 2018 International DOTA 2 Championship. OG won the tournament and the victory made Pham Australia’s 19th highest earning sportsperson for 2018. Pham has done well and so can esports fans when playing online casino games.

  1. Topias Taavitsainen – $2.25 million

Topias Taavitsainen is the 14th ranked DOTA 2 player in the world. Taavitsainen plays alongside Pham on the OG team. The Finnish esports athlete has had a rapid rise and is now seen as one of the world’s best. According to reports, before 2018’s amazing $2.25 million in earnings, Taavitsainen’s best year was in 2017 when he made just under $900 in winnings. It has been a rapid rise.

  1. Sebastien Debs – $2.28 million

Sebastien Debs is a teammate of both Pham and Taavitsainen on the OG team. The trio’s success at the 2018 International Dota 2 Championship is why they are so highly ranked in earnings this year. The trio shared the more than $15m prize pool for DOTA. Debs’ best earnings year prior to 2018 was 2015 when he took home over $21,000. The Frenchman will hope OG can repeat at next year’s DOTA 2 Championship.

  1. Johan Sundstein – $2.28 million

Of course, Johan Sundstein is a part of the OG team that won the DOTA 2 Championship. Currently ranked No. 2 in the world, Sundstein has been winning serious cash for six years. He started out playing Heroes of Newerth at age 15, but switched to DOTA with HoN fading in popularity. For the last four years as a DOTA player, Sundstein has made at least six figures in earnings, and each year he has seen his finances increase. At only 24, Sundstein is living a life that millions of young men wish they had.

1.Jesse Vainikka – $2.29 million

Jesse Vainikka was the fifth and final member of the OG Dota 2 Championship team. This year marks the 26-year-old’s first million-dollar season as an esport athlete. However, he has been killing it in earnings since 2015 when he made over $51,000. The last two years of competitive action have seen Vainikka earn six figures. Considered the No. 6 DOTA 2 player in the world, Vainikka isn’t even the top-rated player in his home country of Finland. Despite not receiving the top ranking, Vainikka is the top earner in esports, which is a big middle finger to the ranking system.

Red Rake Gaming presents its latest release, Beating Alcatraz, an exciting video slot that transports players to one of the most iconic prisons in the world to experience the ultimate escape adventure.

With a 5×4 reel layout and 25 paylines, Beating Alcatraz delivers an innovative gaming experience centered around the Sticky Wins feature, where every winning combination sticks to the reels and triggers a Respin—offering players the chance to maximize their winnings while keeping the excitement going with every spin.

The game also includes a progressive multiplier panel that increases with each Respin, reaching up to a x10 multiplier. This adds a dynamic, strategic layer to the gameplay, as players feel the pressure build with each step toward outsmarting the prison’s security and boosting their prizes.

The excitement rises even more when 3 BONUS symbols land on the reels, unlocking the Free Spins feature. During this phase, a fixed Wild on the second reel becomes a key ally in helping players break through the walls of Alcatraz and increase their chances of big wins.

Beating Alcatraz is designed to appeal to both experienced players and new audiences, combining classic elements with innovative features that keep the action flowing and engagement levels high.

Starting today, July 31st, all Red Rake Gaming partners can integrate Beating Alcatraz into their offering, adding a high-quality title that perfectly complements any portfolio looking to deliver variety and top-tier entertainment.

Iconic underwater series reaches new heights with enriched bonus play

Blueprint Gaming™ invites players on its most bountiful fishing trip to date in Fishin’ Frenzy The Big Catch 3, with a host of sumptuous bonus modifiers charging the latest iteration from the industry-renowned series.

The leading UK slot supplier has high hopes for its July release following the roaring success of the original Big Catch title and its sequel, which was released in February 2025.

Despite the former initially bursting onto the scene in 2021, it remained Blueprint Gaming’s standout turnover title for the entire of 2024 and the first half of 2025, while Fishin’ Frenzy The Big Catch 2 has also taken the year by storm, sitting as the supplier’s top 2025 release to date.

Just as in its two predecessors, the third Big Catch instalment sees three, four or five boat-themed scatters trigger the free spins bonus. However, the intriguing twist comes prior to the round starting, with the awarding of random modifiers from a choice of 10, which includes increased cash rewards, a boosted position on the fisherman trail, or more golden fish, worm, or fisherman icons.

For every fourth fisherman collected during the bonus, the lowest fish cash prize is upgraded to the next size with additional free spins awarded, significantly increasing the chance of sizeable returns.

In a move to amplify base play and bonus win potential, each fish or worm that lands during the base game is collected by a net sitting above the reels. Randomly, the Fishin’ Frenzy feature can be triggered, presenting players with a choice of modifiers, including immediate access to the Free Spins bonus, Cash Streak, or Fisherman Add.

For slot enthusiasts on the hunt for further fishing, Blueprint’s latest summer release also welcomes back the new Power Play. Available at 5x the original bet, the additional game mode benefits from only Cash Prize, Cash Harvest and Bonus symbols at play.

Blueprint Gaming’s Jo Purvis, Director of Marketing, PR and Events, said: “Fishin’ Frenzy The Big Catch 3 reels players back in with even more ways to win big, building on the franchise’s phenomenal momentum.

“With enriched bonus features and modifiers complementing the beloved underwater theme, this latest iteration from the series is set to cast a wide net and keep the frenzy at full pace throughout the summer and beyond.”
