The organizers are proud to announce that Tom Light will give a presentation about Cutting Edge Betting Solutions for the market demands during the Innovation Talks panel on Day 2(21.03.2017) at the Vienna International Gaming Expo 2017.

The panel is specially designed to highlight the most recent innovations and discuss futuristic ideas.

Tom has been working in the gaming industry for many years with a focus on casino operations and sports betting. Currently Tom acts as Vice President of Business Development at SBTech. He is renowned for his role as Vice President of Business Development at FashionTV. Additionally Tom has successfully served as CEO for several online gaming companies such as 7Red Casino and 1King Casino.

Tom is recognized for his high involvement with the creation of the Online How-To Guide ‘eHow’ and has been featured/published in various interviews and articles.

In his early career, Light accepted an internship at Infosearch Media at the age of 19. At the time, he had been working on a concept at Infosearch called Answerbag, a question-and-answer database similar to Yahoo! Answers. The Answerbag property was eventually sold to Demand Media in 2006 for $5 million and was then re-branded into eHow. At age 21, Light became the Director of Marketing at Infosearch Media and also began writing about marketing strategies for various industries in his own financial column in the Tel Aviv newspaper, Yedioth Ahronoth. In his position as Director of Marketing, Light offered consultation to many companies including Amazon.comeBayMatch.comChoice Hotels, and Nine West (among others).

His success managing the marketing strategies of these companies led him into a relationship with Playtech, one of the world’s largest online gambling software companies. He founded a marketing business, Tom Light Consulting, which focuses on casino and poker marketing and became the “preferred partner” of Games-OS by Playtech for all its marketing consultation needs. He also founded his own online casino, 7Red.com, and helped turn it into one of the most prominent online casinos on the internet. In 2011, he purchased three online gambling properties, the BonushShot affiliate network, YouSpades Casino, and 11Spades Casino, from Playtech’s owner, Teddy Sagi. He then took the three properties and merged them to create 1King.com, another online casino.

Tom Light is the right person to discuss innovations coming from the betting industry and even he agrees that the Central European gaming sector needs to speed up the process of transformation and its ability to adapt to the new trends and challenges of the online gaming industry offers within their own region. The only way to switch the region’s economy on the new track is investing in innovative solutions. It is not only about ideas, but ideas and their implementation. Bringing innovation into traditional industries is the key to success and ensures the competitiveness of the CEE region.

Austria to tighten online regulation

Published

Internet service providers in Austria could be authorised to block domains of websites that break local laws, such as some international gambling sites.

Internationally licensed online gambling sites have proven to be a pain to deal to several countries without proper regulation for the online segment. In order to improve its control over them, Austria is considering to authorise internet service providers (ISPs) to block the domains of websites presumed to be breaking their laws.

As reported by CalvinAyre, plans to amend the Telecommunications Act 2003 to permit local ISPs to take “traffic management measures” in order to prevent “criminal acts” have been recently revealed by the Ministry of the Interior. Despite not being specifically targetted to gambling sites, the Austrian Association for Betting and Gaming (OVWG) has alerted that they could be included if Austrian legislators approve the amendment.

Government’s intentions aren’t a novelty, however, legal challenges at the Court of Justice for the European Union have interfered with their previous efforts to get ISPs to block unauthorised gambling operators’ domains.

Online gambling verticals (excluding sports betting) are restricted in Austria to the Win2Day brand of Casinos Austria and its Austrian Lotteries subsidiary. The OVWG was created to update the current framework in order to make it more EU-compliant.
