The Online Voting Session for the Baltic and Scandinavian Gaming Awards is now live!

We are excited to announce that the online voting session for the inaugural Baltic and Scandinavian Gaming Awards (BSG Awards 2019) is now live!
You can vote for your favorite companies in the Baltic and Nordic region between 1 – 31 March to help them reach the top 5 and advance to the shortlist. Vote here!
The nominations have been submitted between 19 November (2018) and 22 February (2019) by several companies that are active in the region and also by the nominations committee.
To have a non-biased nominations list, we have set up a nominations committee which consists of Andrius Gabnys (Founder at Gabnys Law Firm) for the Baltic region and Morten Ronde (CEO at Danish Online Gambling Association and Managing Partner at Nordic Gambling) for the Nordic region.
Once again, we are implementing a transparent voting process to determine the winners of the 21 categories by setting the same rules as for the prestigious CEEGAwards.
The process looks the following way:
- Public Online Voting– Period: 01.03 – 31.03
- Shortlist announcement: 8 April 2019 (top 5 per each category)
- Final Vote: 9 May 2019 (All attending delegates of the MARE BALTICUM Gaming Summit will get the chance to vote for their favorites to determine the winners of the inaugural Baltic and Scandinavian Gaming Awards)
- Winner announcements: 9 May 2019 (The winners will be announced in the final session of the conference by the award presenters)

13 gambling company executives in appeal against ATG’s proposal to raise gambling tax in Sweden
BOS – The Swedish Trade Association for Online Gambling – is today submitting a letter to the government. The letter is signed by 13 gambling company executives and BOS’s secretary general. In the letter, the signatories urge the government not to support the gambling company ATG in their proposal to raise the general gambling tax in favour of a reduction in the tax on horse racing.
As a main argument, the signatories highlight the fact that the level of the gambling tax affects the proportion of consumers who choose to gamble on the legal licensed gambling market, and that too many consumers are already opting out of the safety of the licensed market with its extensive consumer protection.
“Horse betting has a channelisation rate of between 98-99 percent. Online casino, according to the most optimistic estimates, has a channelisation rate of between 72-82 percent. The higher the tax, the greater the risk that the consumer will choose unlicensed gambling, where neither gambling tax nor consumer protection exists. To then lower the gambling tax for horse betting, which already has a very strong channelisation, and raise it for online casino, which has a very weak channelisation, would be completely incomprehensible. At least for those who prioritize consumer protection,” says BOS Secretary General Gustaf Hoffstedt.
