Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment (MGE) Becomes Official Service Provider of Fallsview Casino Resort, Casino Niagara and Niagara Falls Entertainment Centre

Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment (MGE), owner, developer and manager of integrated resorts throughout the United States and Northern Asia, announced today that the company has been selected by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) as the service provider for the Niagara Gaming Bundle in Niagara Falls, Ontario, following a competitive procurement process. Effective summer 2019, MGE will assume the day-to-day operations at Fallsview Casino Resort, Casino Niagara, and the future 5,000-seat Niagara Falls Entertainment Centre, located adjacent to Fallsview Casino Resort.

“We are honored to have been selected as the service provider by OLG in what was a very competitive process. This procurement marks Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment’s advancement as a leader in commercial gaming and integrated resort experiences around the world, while promoting greater economic development and tourism in the Niagara region through our outstanding gaming, entertainment, and resort offerings,” said Kevin Brown “Red Eagle“, Chairman of the Mohegan Tribe and MGE Management Board.

MGE plans to leverage the existing Fallsview Casino Resort and Casino Niagara sites in conjunction with the future Niagara Falls Entertainment Centre to create a dynamic entertainment experience that is expected to drive increased visitation to Niagara Falls. Customers will be offered world-class entertainment and amenities while the region is expected to benefit from economic development and increased job opportunities. MGE looks forward to becoming an important part of the Niagara community and partnering with multiple local stakeholders, including Canadian Niagara Hotels Incorporated, the current landlord of Casino Niagara and a local developer, and Niagara Falls Entertainment Partners, the developer of the Niagara Falls Entertainment Centre.

“As a brand known for our all-encompassing entertainment destinations, we are excited to work with OLG, the City of Niagara Falls, Canadian Niagara Hotels Inc., Niagara Falls Entertainment Partners and other local stakeholders in supporting a twin-anchor strategy that is critical to the success of tourism throughout the Niagara region,” said Anthony Casdia, Senior Vice President of Business Intelligence, Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment. “The Niagara Falls Entertainment Centre will be used to create unique experiences for the benefit of the Niagara Region, create more jobs, and encourage economic growth. As the operators of one of the most successful arenas in the U.S. over the last 15 years, Mohegan Sun Arena, we are eager to put our experience to work and establish Niagara Falls Entertainment Centre as one of Canada’s top-ranked venues.”

“In selecting Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment, OLG has selected an internationally recognized gaming destination operator which will take Niagara’s casinos to the next level.  I am confident MGE will work collaboratively with the community”, said Dino DiCienzo President Canadian Niagara Hotels.

“Selecting Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment is the latest step OLG is taking in our land-based gaming modernization, which is investing in communities and providing customers with new and exciting entertainment options,” said Stephen Rigby, OLG’s President and CEO. “By leveraging the success of the Niagara casinos and integrating with the wide mix of entertainment and tourist offerings in the area, Mohegan will help ensure the long-term competitiveness of the Niagara gaming market—particularly in relation to markets across the border.”

Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment will be responsible for the day-to-day gaming operations of Fallsview Casino Resort, Casino Niagara, and the Niagara Falls Entertainment Centre, while OLG will provide strategic oversight of the Niagara Gaming Bundle and Ontario gaming marketplace, including approvals related to material operational changes. It will continue to conduct and manage gaming in the bundle, own key player information and make payments under the Municipality Contribution Agreement. OLG will also require Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment to uphold the high standards of OLG’s Responsible Gambling program and remain compliant with all applicable laws, regulations and standards.

PandaScore drops PandaSkill for League of Legends

Published

Reading Time: 2 minutes

PandaScore, the award-winning provider of esports data, odds and betting products, has rolled out an exciting player performance and skill rating system for League of Legends.

PandaSkill has been developed by PandaScore’s data science team and aims to uplift performance analysis and product performance.

It is a machine learning model that measures individual player skill in a way that more accurately compares every player, accounting for their respective roles and, crucially, measures the skill of players relative to the strength of every player across the world.

Each in-game role is modelled independently, ensuring a fair comparison between them. Then, using these performance scores, PandaSkill updates the player skill ratings using the Bayesian framework OpenSkill in a free-for-all setting

In this setting, skill ratings are updated solely based on performance scores rather than game outcomes, highlighting individual contributions.

PandaSkill has been developed as an open-source resource that can be used for the betterment of the wider industry.

It can be deployed across websites, apps or within the context of an esports publication and can be used by fans and bettors to compare players, teams and performances over time to guide their wagers, adding more interest and value to the community.

As well as adding value to PandaScore’s operators and their players, the provider is also using it to improve its offering.

PandaSkill is supporting the provider’s core esports betting services, especially its popular Player Props and BetBuilder as it helps to increase the accuracy of its odds by bringing them closer to true probability, as well as informing its traders as to how the probabilities are being created.

Oliver NinerHead of B2B at PandaScore, said: “The idea for PandaSkill was borne out of a culture of understanding games at an intrinsic, data-driven level, what drives wins and what constitutes good or bad performance.

“Esports fans a bettors share a similar interest in data-driven performance, whether that be their personal ratings and rankings in the games they play or the latest stats for the best pro players in the world.

“PandaSkill takes this to the next level, helping inform public discussion, culture building and broadcast commentary, as well as helping players make smarter bets while also allowing us to improve the products and services we offer to operators.

“This makes PandaSkill an important product in our suite. It also stands as a testament to our commitment to be at the cutting edge of esports and esports betting.”
