GVC Holdings has reported an 11 per cent increase in group net revenue for the second quarter of 2018, driven by strong online growth and the performance of its European retail estate.

The company said in a trading update Wednesday that online net gaming revenue (NGR) in the second quarter grew at 22 per cent year-on-year, or 25 per cent on a constant currency basis, with online brands benefiting from a pipeline of new products and from high profile marketing campaigns.

Key highlights (proforma basis1):

Q2:

Positive growth trends continue with Group NGR +11% (cc2 +12%)
Strong Online NGR growth at +22% (cc2 +25%)
UK Retail Like-for-like (“LFL”)3 NGR in growth at +2% helped by World Cup
European Retail NGR +19% (cc2 +16%)
H1:

Group NGR +8% (cc2 +8%)
Online NGR +18% (cc2 +20%)
For the period up to commencement of the World Cup Online NGR +15% (cc2 +17%)

UK Retail LFL3 NGR -3%
European Retail NGR +29% (cc2 +26%)
The Group saw an acceleration in year-on-year growth in Q2 2018 over Q1 2018 driven by good underlying momentum and the World Cup.

Online NGR growth was 22% in Q2 (cc2 +25%) and +18% (cc2 +20%) for the six months to 30 June 2018. Online NGR for the period from 1 January to 13 June (i.e. prior to the commencement of the World Cup) was +15% (cc2 +17%), reflecting strong underlying growth. The Online brands have continued to benefit from a pipeline of new products and from high profile marketing campaigns.

UK Retail trends improved in the second quarter as the weather proved less disruptive than in the first quarter, while growth in European Retail remained very strong, albeit helped by a soft comparative.

The World Cup tournament as a whole has been a good one for the Group, helped by a better than expected gross win margin but also importantly volumes and value of new customer deposits.

The Group intends to release its interim results on 13 September 2018.

Kenneth Alexander (CEO) said:

“I am pleased to report this positive trading update whilst at the same time undertaking the integration of the Ladbrokes Coral business. The strong momentum across the online business has continued and means we are well placed to deliver against our full year expectations.”

Notes:

The Group’s proforma results are presented as if the current Group, post the acquisition of Ladbrokes Coral, had always existed. As such, it excludes the results of the Turkish business which was discontinued during 2017and the 360 shops that the Ladbrokes Coral Group was required to divest on merger.
Growth on a constant currency basis is calculated by translating both current and prior year performance at the 2018 exchange rates.
UK Retail numbers are quoted on a LFL basis. During H1 and Q2 there were an average of 3,562 shops in the estate, compared to an average of 3,662 in the same periods last year.

Play’n GO Hit All the Right Notes With Black Mamba

Slot supplier Play’n GO have returned to the music world for their latest slot Black Mamba, created in partnership with the Italian hard rock band of the same name.

After the success of House of Doom, Sabaton and their most recent release, Demon, Play’n GO have once again teamed up with another band to create and unique slot based on their musical stylings.

The Italian super band from Italy comprises of four members; Martina Cori (vocals), Alexandra Maiolo (guitar), Cecilia Nappo (bass) and Federico Maragoni (drums), all of whom feature as characters in the game, using their musical skills as part of its special features before coming together in an epic grand finale.

As always, the band themselves were very involved in the game’s creation process, making several visits to the company’s office to work with the producers and artists involved in crafting the game’s final design.

The slot includes the band’s original music, as its soundtrack is taken from their newest album Black Mamba II, which was released in October this year. This includes popular tracks such as MonstersNatural Born Disaster and the hit single Watch Me When I Fail, which is performed during the game’s main Free Spins feature.

To celebrate the release of the game, Play’n GO are hosting an exclusive concert featuring Black Mamba and English rock band Demon. The concert will coincide with the first evening of SiGMA, November 27th.

The game is another example of the company’s creativity in the world of slots. While the musical slot theme is a popular one, Play’n GO have managed not only to approach it uniquely but also redefine the idea of what it means to create a slot of this type.

CEO Johan Törnqvist spoke on the company’s unique approach to their slot making:

“Creativity and innovation are at the heart of everything we do; we want to take this form of entertainment into new territories, and that means playing with new ideas and new concepts.

Working with the band to create the slot is an example of this; we ensure that we capture the personality and the essence of their music and fuse it with the Play’n GO spirit you get with every release. To do that successfully, that’s when you know you’ve created something special.”

Black Mamba is available to play online today.

Greentube granted G4 certification

Supplier marks Responsible Gambling Week with key accreditation

Greentube, the NOVOMATIC Interactive division, has marked Responsible Gambling Week by becoming the first Austrian supplier to receive Global Gambling Guidance Group (G4) certification, the world’s strictest international player protection standard.

The G4 award, which covers all business verticals of a gaming company, underscores Greentube’s commitment to responsible gambling and the effectiveness of its player protection measures. The certification extends across the NOVOMATIC group, recognising achievements as both an operator and supplier of terrestrial slot arcades and casinos, sports betting, as well as online gaming and technology development.

Greentube’s responsible gambling measures were tested against nearly 100 criteria by independent auditors, who analysed in-house guidelines and codes of conduct, staff training on addiction prevention, age identification and youth protection. The supplier was also tested on the information available to customers on the risks of gaming, self-limitation tools and self-blocking options as part of the voluntary process.

Its parent company, NOVOMATIC, is the only gaming technology group worldwide to have successfully undergone G4’s strict analysis on such a scale and across multiple business segments, with a total of ten top-performing subsidiaries in Austria, Germany, the UK and the Netherlands achieving the accreditation. According to G4, the vast majority of Group revenue and its 30,000 employees will be certified in the coming year as auditing of the remaining companies progresses.

Barbara Zemann, Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability Manager at Greentube, said: “Receiving G4 certification is a monumental achievement for Greentube and the wider NOVOMATIC Group. It recognises our dedication to ensuring that player protection runs through the core of the business and that our gaming technology adheres to the highest responsible gambling standards.

“We are very proud that we have adopted the ‘responsible entertainment first’ mindset effectively at every level and been independently endorsed accordingly. The accreditation sends a clear message that we are committed to not only the continuous improvement of our games and products but to help players enjoy them safely.”

The G4 certificate must be renewed annually by means of a re-certification process, with standards regularly updated to reflect the latest scientific findings.
