Official Start of Construction Marks New Chapter for Holland Casino Groningen
With a festive gathering at Businesspark Ter Borch, Holland Casino officially gave the go-ahead for the construction of the new Holland Casino Groningen. Employees, construction partners and representatives of the municipality marked an important milestone: the realization of a new, sustainable and future-proof casino at the gateway to Groningen.
Construction has officially started with a symbolic act. This marks the beginning of the next phase in Holland Casino Groningen’s return to a permanent location, after the previous site was lost to fire in 2017.
CEO Petra de Ruiter said: “Today, together, we are taking an important step towards the future of Holland Casino Groningen. Here, we are not only building a new building, but also a place where guests feel welcome and where our employees can work with pride. After years of preparation, it is special to see that the plans are now actually becoming a reality.”
Marcel Thijsen, Mayor of the municipality of Tynaarlo, also emphasized the importance of the development for the region during the meeting. The new establishment contributes to the further development of Business Park Ter Borch and strengthens the attractiveness of the location along the A7.
The new casino is being developed with a strong emphasis on the surroundings, sustainability, accessibility and hospitality. The location offers space for a contemporary casino that aligns with guest preferences and meets Holland Casino’s ambitions regarding future-proof business operations.
For the employees of Holland Casino Groningen, the start of construction marks a special moment. Many of them were present at the ceremony and witnessed a long-cherished wish visibly taking shape: a new home for the branch in the Northern Netherlands. One of them, Richard van den Broek, an employee from the very beginning, performed the opening ceremony together with Petra de Ruiter and Mayor Thijsen. “I am relieved that it is finally starting and can’t wait to walk in here,” he said.
