Merkur Casino Siegburg Celebrates Opening with Hollywood Legend Patrick Duffy
The new Merkur Casino in Siegburg will open on December 10, 2026, and celebrate this special occasion with a three-day opening festival running until December 12. A prominent highlight awaits guests on the first evening: Patrick Duffy, world-famous as Bobby Ewing from the cult series “Dallas,” will travel from the US to Germany especially for the occasion. He will be accompanied by his partner, the American actress and singer Linda Purl.
“Live entertainment is part of the DNA of Merkur casinos. From day one, we want to offer our guests in Siegburg more than just a first-class gaming experience: extraordinary show moments and memorable entertainment. With Patrick Duffy, we are welcoming a true Hollywood legend to the opening, someone who has made television history for decades. The fact that a global star of this caliber is coming to Siegburg especially for us makes this special occasion even more extraordinary,” said David Schnabel, the Merkur Group board member responsible for the casino division.
Patrick Duffy is one of the great television icons. As Bobby Ewing in “Dallas,” he made television history and became a global favorite in the 1980s. With later hit series like “Step by Step” and “The Bold and the Beautiful,” the American actor shaped the television landscape for many years. Linda Purl achieved international fame through her roles in “Happy Days” and “Matlock”. For the couple, their joint visit to Siegburg is a special premiere: it marks the first time the two Hollywood stars have appeared together at a public event in Germany.
Beyond its high-profile visit, the Merkur Casino in Siegburg is setting new standards. The new casino was built in record time: only about 20 months passed between the groundbreaking ceremony at the end of March 2025 and the opening celebration in December 2026. The Merkur Group is investing more than 35 million euros in North Rhine-Westphalia’s sixth state-licensed casino.
On approximately 1600 square meters of gaming space, guests can expect a modern offering with classic roulette and card tables, as well as around 250 state-of-the-art slot machines. With this new location, the Merkur Group is also creating around 100 jobs in various fields.
