SkillOnNet secures Finnish iGaming licence ahead of July 2027 market launch

Finland’s National Police Board approves the group as the country prepares to replace Veikkaus’ online monopoly with a licensing regime.

SkillOnNet has secured a Finnish gambling licence, positioning the operator to enter Finland’s newly regulated online casino market when it opens on July 1, 2027.

The licence was granted by Finland’s National Police Board. SkillOnNet said the approval supports its plans to expand in the Nordic region ahead of the market’s transition to a competitive licensing model for online casino gaming and sports betting.

Finland is preparing to move away from the long-standing online gambling monopoly held by state-owned operator Veikkaus and introduce a licensing system for private operators, subject to regulatory requirements. The licencing process has attracted international interest, with the National Police Board receiving 75 applications by late September 2026, according to the company.

Maor Nutkevitch, Head of Corporate Development at SkillOnNet, said: “Finland represents a fantastic opportunity, with a strong digital culture and a clear commitment to creating a safe, competitive, and sustainable online gaming environment.

“We’re delighted to be among the early operators to receive approval, and we look forward to bringing our experience, innovative gaming products, and player-first approach to Finnish customers when the market opens next July.”
