Sun International Launches New Responsible Gambling Charter

South African casino operator Sun International has launched its responsible gambling charter.

The company declared that it is built on four principles: “player education, protecting our players, ethical and responsible marketing and staff responsibility and training.”

The charter is overseen by the Social and Ethics Committee on behalf of Sun International’s board. It will be reviewed every year and references in the company’s annual sustainability report.

Annual review and progress updates

In the charter, the company said that it is pursuing responsible gambling certification from “an internationally recognised body” in order to strengthen governance across all business units and platforms.

“We are implementing the responsible gambling accreditation to improve operational consistency and embed a standardised responsible gambling culture across our operations and customer lifecycle,” it reads.

“Sun International is developing supporting policies, maintained and reviewed by the group responsible gambling manager, for inclusion in and/or alignment with the group responsible gambling policy. Anti-money laundering data and controls inform our responsible gambling policies, practices and staff protocols, helping to promote healthy play and identify signs of problem play as early as possible.”
