DeGaming names Édi Varela as Commercial Director
Former OpenTag Head of Sales joins to lead partnerships and commercial growth for the Web3-focused iGaming platform provider.
DeGaming has appointed Édi Varela as Commercial Director as the company pushes for commercial growth following a recent rebrand.
Varela joins from OpenTag, where he most recently served as Head of Sales. DeGaming said he brings more than a decade of experience across iGaming, payments and commercial account management, including senior roles at Kaizen Gaming, Gamingtec and Sportingtech.
The hire is positioned as part of DeGaming’s efforts to expand adoption of its Web3-oriented proposition, including its “Truth Beats Trust” positioning and its proprietary “Glass Vault,” which the company says provides real-time proof of funds and platform visibility.
Ulle Skottling, CEO at DeGaming, said: “Édi joins us at an important turning point in DeGaming’s development. We have built the technology and established our clear position in the market. The next step is to accelerate adoption and bring our product to more operators.
“Édi’s experience across many areas of the industry gives him a uniquely broad perspective on what our customers need. He understands the commercial realities but also sees where the market is heading. He will play a crucial role in taking our ‘Truth Beats Trust’ philosophy from a brand statement into our commercial relationships.”
Édi Varela, Commercial Director at DeGaming, said: “DeGaming is addressing a problem I have seen throughout my career in iGaming. There is a significant gap between what the industry asks people to trust and what they can actually see with their own eyes.
“I’m excited to lead a team of tenured professionals as we partner with new clients and ensure the post-sales journey fosters strong commercial results for them.”
