Stake targets New Zealand online casino licence ahead of 2027 launch

Stake says it plans to enter New Zealand’s newly regulated online casino market and has progressed through the country’s licence auction process.

The operator said it is among a small group of companies that have moved through the auction stage, positioning it to apply for a licence under the new framework. Licences have not yet been granted. The market is expected to launch from 2027, subject to the completion of licensing and regulatory approvals.

A Stake spokesperson said: “We’re really excited about the opportunity in New Zealand as the market moves towards regulation. It’s a strong fit for Stake and another important step in growing our presence globally.

“This follows our expansion into Alberta, Argentina and Mexico this year, and reflects our wider strategy of entering new markets where we see long-term potential.

“We’re looking forward to the next stages of the process and, ultimately, bringing the Stake experience to customers in New Zealand.”

The company said a potential New Zealand entry would follow its expansion into Alberta, Argentina and Mexico in 2026. Stake also said it expects further market expansion during 2026.
