Gaming in Spain Conference lands in Madrid on October 15 amid reform fight

DGOJ, Jdigital and National Police speakers set agenda as operators challenge planned cross-operator deposit limits.

The 2026 Gaming in Spain Conference is scheduled for Thursday, October 15 in Madrid, with the event positioned around ongoing regulatory reforms in Spain’s regulated iGaming market.

Organisers said the speaker line-up includes Mikel Arana, Director General, DGOJ; Justo Sancho, Director of Safe Gambling, DGOJ; Jorge Hinojosa, Director General, Jdigital; David Calvete Sarasa, Chief Inspector, National Police; and Xavi Munoz Bellvehí, Managing Partner, ECIJA Barcelona.

The event comes as Spain prepares a set of reforms that include cross-operator deposit limits and a central DGOJ-mandated problem gambling detection algorithm. The press release also points to longer-term plans for “fundamental amendments” to Spain’s Gambling Act.

According to the release, Spanish-licensed operators represented by trade association Jdigital have initiated judicial proceedings against plans to introduce cross-operator deposit limits, and have “signaled a refusal to cooperate” with the current plans to overhaul the Gambling Act.

The organisers also cited political uncertainty following Spain’s PM Pedro Sanches calling snap elections for November 29, after protests over housing shortages and opposition resistance to government efforts on the housing crisis. The conference agenda is published at www.gamingin.eu/spain/agenda.
