Dutch Regulator KSA Publishes Guidance on Bank Account Verification

The Dutch Gaming Authority (KSA) has published new guidance on verifying player bank accounts and payment methods. Following an investigation by KSA into the registration process, it became apparent that gambling companies do not always carry out these checks adequately.

The KSA received reports that minors, although not yet permitted to gamble, were in some cases able to deposit funds at gambling companies using their own bank accounts. The subsequent investigation revealed that gambling companies do not always verify bank accounts correctly. As a result, gambling could be done using youth accounts, or a minor’s bank account could be linked to the account of an adult participant.

In the new guidance, the KSA provides direction on, among other things, checking first names when verifying payment accounts. It also addresses the use of business accounts and other payment methods.
