Continent 8 opens New York edge data center at Tioga Downs for sports betting market
Continent 8 Technologies has opened a new data center at Tioga Downs Casino Resort in Nichols, New York, targeting the state’s regulated online sports betting market. The company announced the launch on 1 October 2026.
Continent 8 said the facility was built to meet New York’s technical, operational and regulatory requirements for licensed operators and approved B2B suppliers. The company described the site as a specialist edge data center, positioned close to the regulated market rather than relying on hyperscale deployments.
The modular build launches with approximately 500kW of capacity and 24 racks, with the ability to expand to 48 racks. Continent 8 said the site includes resilient power, cooling, connectivity and security systems and is fully managed by the company.
Continent 8 said the New York deployment connects customers to its private global network spanning more than 100 locations across five continents, including 30+ US states. The company also pointed to New York’s scale, citing more than $26 billion in wagers during 2025.
Michael Tobin, Founder and Chairman at Continent 8 Technologies, said: “The future of infrastructure for our industry isn't about building ever-larger facilities. It's about delivering the right infrastructure in the right locations to support highly regulated markets.”
Mike Small, Chief Executive Officer at Continent 8 Technologies, said: “Operators and suppliers increasingly need more than hosting infrastructure. They need a partner that can support connectivity, cloud, cybersecurity and emerging technologies through a single integrated platform.”
