IESF names Indonesia host of World Esports Championship 2026
The International Esports Federation (IESF) said Indonesia will host the World Esports Championship 2026 (WEC26) from 15–20 December 2026, bringing national teams to compete for the World Esports Champion title.
IESF said the 2026 event marks the championship’s third return to Indonesia, following the country’s previous hosting of the tournament in 2016 and 2022.
According to IESF, WEC26 will feature five titles: Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, PUBG MOBILE and eFootball. Athletes will compete under their national flags, the federation said.
"We are grateful to our Indonesian Esports Family for their continuous dedication and support of Esports," said Vlad Marinescu, President of IESF. "Together we have made history, organizing the biggest esports event on a beach, in Bali 2022, and now we are sure that together we will provide the best experience and conditions for all athletes who have qualified for this event. They represent their countries and will fight for the opportunity to raise their national flag!"
IESF also said 152 Member National Federations will attend its Ordinary General Meeting during the event. The federation said the championship is expected to bring together more than 500 athletes from more than 110 Member National Federations.
