Gaming in Spain Conference publishes initial 2026 agenda
Gaming in Spain has published the initial agenda for its 2026 Gaming in Spain Conference, scheduled for Thursday, October 15, 2026 at the Auditorio ECIJA in Madrid. The programme is led by a keynote from Mikel Arana, DG, DGOJ, and includes sessions on cross-operator deposit limits, the DGOJ’s central problem gambling detection algorithm, AML and fraud, and the impact of offshore competition.
Gaming in Spain founder Willem van Oort said: “I am extremely happy that we managed to bring together so many key stakeholders, representing the regulator, licensed operators, suppliers, and even Spain's National Police. I think this is representative of what Gaming in Spain and, more broadly, Gaming in Europe are trying to achieve, which is facilitating the kind of discussions that help foster long-term sustainability for regulated gambling. All this, of course, against the backdrop of the growing threat of unprotected gambling due to unfair, unlicensed, and offshore competition. Reclaiming the market requires both cooperation and shared knowledge.”
The agenda is split across seven blocks. Regulatory developments include a DGOJ-led session on implementing cross-operator deposit limits featuring Justo Sancho (DGOJ), Sander Hoogendoorn (Chevron Group) and moderator Camille Gonzálvez (ECIJA), alongside a segment on Melilla and regulated gambling in Spain with Patricia Lalanda (LOYRA Abogados). A separate block focuses on the black market, including market data from Josh Hodgson (H2 Gambling Capital), onshore/offshore game comparisons from Dmitry Belianin (Blask Business Intelligence), and a session on illegal gambling advertising with Björn Fuchs (VNLOK).
Player protection and compliance sessions include problem gambling detection algorithms with Pedro Romero (BetBlocker) and Paula Murphy (Mindway AI), and a fraud and AML block featuring David Calvete Sarasa, Chief Inspector, National Police, plus a panel on the EU’s new AML/CFT regulation with Pedro López Martín-Andino (MartínAndino Abogados) and Jochen Biewer (Chevron Group). The conference also schedules content on new products and technology, including “AI-powered ‘live’ casino” from Avanti Studios and sessions on emerging gambling and betting formats, affiliate marketing and payments; the LatAm update speaker is listed as TBA.
Gaming in Spain also announced a free webinar set for Tuesday, September 15 at 15:30 CET, covering cross-operator deposit limits and potential amendments to Spain’s Gambling Act, implementation of the DGOJ’s detection algorithm, and consumer interest in prediction betting products and offshore experiences. Registration for the October conference is open, with further agenda updates expected.
