Booming Games appoints Michael Waterfield as chief commercial officer

Booming Games has appointed Michael Waterfield as its new Chief Commercial Officer, the company said today.

Waterfield joins from White Hat Studios, where he spent nearly five years and most recently served as SVP Commercial and Corporate Strategy, after rising from VP Commercial. Booming Games said Waterfield was involved in White Hat’s commercial growth, including expansion in North America, ahead of its acquisition by the Merkur Group.

Prior to White Hat, Waterfield was Head of Commercial Strategy at NetEnt and Commercial Manager for Casino at GVC. He began his career in finance and business intelligence, spending eight years at Talarius in roles including Commercial Finance Manager, Business Intelligence Manager and Interim Financial Controller.

At Booming Games, Waterfield will lead the commercial function across account management, sales, market strategy and commercial performance. The company said he will support growth plans that include targeting regulation in every major global market within the next two years.

"Booming Games is a business that has made a significant impact on the global gaming sector in recent years, so I am delighted to join and support the next phase of its growth.

"I look to build commercial strategy on factors like data and margin discipline, underpinned by collaboration. My early priorities will therefore include working closely with the Product and Business Intelligence teams to further strengthen our discipline around pricing, promotions and deal structure, to ensure the pipeline we are building converts at the pace our roadmap deserves. I cannot wait to get started."

Ramona Petrina, Chief of Staff at Booming Games, said: "We deliberately took our time with this appointment, and in Michael we have the perfect fit for our business. His track record is second to none; he has held commercial leadership on both sides of our industry, at scale, and has done the numbers as well as the deals."
