Ukraine’s Cabinet Approves Gambling Addiction Strategy Through 2035

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved Ukraine’s Strategy for Countering Gambling Addiction through 2035. The document outlines state policy on preventing gambling addiction, supporting people with addiction and combating illegal gambling operations.

Implementation of the strategy is intended to unite the efforts of government agencies, medical and educational institutions, law enforcement bodies and other organisations. The Ministry of Digital Transformation announced the document’s approval.

What the Gambling Addiction Strategy Provides For

One area of focus is nationwide awareness campaigns about the risks of gambling. Schools also plan to introduce classes on the dangers of developing a gambling addiction.

The state will pay particular attention to the early detection of signs of gambling addiction and factors that may contribute to its development.

The strategy provides for expanded access to treatment, psychological support and rehabilitation for people addicted to gambling.

Special support programmes tailored to the needs of military personnel and veterans are also to be developed.

Another priority will be blocking illegal gambling websites and unlawful advertising. Law enforcement agencies are expected to step up efforts to combat gambling-related crime.

Which Government Agencies Will Implement the Plan

About 40 government agencies will be involved in implementing the strategy. They include the Ministry of Digital Transformation, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Veterans Affairs and Ministry of Social Policy.

The Bureau of Economic Security, Security Service of Ukraine, National Police, PlayCity and other institutions will also take part.
