Allwyn says New Lotto creates 56 millionaires since June 10 launch

Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery, said New Lotto has created 56 millionaires since the game’s updated format launched on 10 June, and that Powerball has generated 997,038 winning prizes in the UK since its local debut on 21 July.

In a statement, Allwyn said the 56 New Lotto millionaires compare with 35 during the same June-to-August period last year. The operator attributed the increase to the game’s new two-round draw structure, saying 32 players became millionaires through Round 2 alone.

Allwyn highlighted a recent £1M Lotto win by a family syndicate from Somerset, identifying the winners as Mark Jefferson, 54, his wife Naomi, 51, and their four adult children. The company said the family initially ignored “check your account” emails and only learned of the win after receiving a phone call.

On Powerball, Allwyn reiterated that The National Lottery is the first lottery outside the US to launch the game in its market. The operator said Powerball has paid out more than £13.8M in prizes in the UK since 21 July, with prizes starting at £8, and estimated the jackpot at £49M for Thursday morning’s draw.

Andy Carter, Senior Winners' Advisor at Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery, said, "With New Lotto delivering more winners than ever before and Powerball giving UK players access to one of the world's biggest rolling jackpot games, this summer has marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter for The National Lottery, offering players more opportunities to win and more chances to dream big in the months ahead.

"And that's not to mention the top prize winners made on our other National Lottery draw games. Since the beginning of June, we have also made five winners of £10K a month for 30 years on Set For Life and six winners of £500K on Thunderball." Allwyn also said National Lottery games generate around £33M per week for funded projects and that more than £53BN has been raised for Good Causes since launch.
