G2’s Caps becomes first European inductee in Riot’s League of Legends Hall of Legends
G2 midlaner Rasmus “Caps” Borregaard Winther has been inducted into Riot Games’ League of Legends Hall of Legends, becoming the first European player to receive the honour. The announcement was dated August 16, 2026, with an official trophy ceremony scheduled for August 18 in Berlin.
Caps is the third player inducted, joining Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and Jian “Uzi” Zi-Hao. G2 said the 26-year-old has won a record 17 European titles and remains the first and only Western player to reach consecutive League of Legends World Championship Finals.
G2 CEO Alban Dechelotte said: “We’ve had the privilege of watching Caps achieve some incredible things in a G2 jersey, but becoming the first European player inducted into the Hall of Legends is something really special. For years, he has shown what European League of Legends is capable of, competing at the very top and creating unforgettable moments that fans will remember for a long time. We couldn’t be prouder to see everything he has achieved recognised in this way, and to see him take his place among the very best to ever play the game.”
Chris Greeley, Global Head of LoL Esports, added: “Caps always felt like the player you could never fully prepare for. He has that rare ‘it’ factor, the ability to rise in the biggest moments through his playmaking, leadership, and calming presence under pressure. Caps has inspired an entire generation of Western players and earned the respect of fans around the world. He’s not just one of the greatest League of Legends players of all time, he exemplifies everything we hope our esports heroes can be.”
Riot and G2 said the Berlin ceremony will include a special exhibition featuring photography and jerseys from across Caps’ career. A Hall of Legends documentary is also set to release on September 10, with the Hall of Legends website scheduled to publish more information from August 24.
