Helge Løken Resigns as CTO of Norsk Tipping

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Helge Løken has resigned as CTO of Norsk Tipping, the state-owned gaming operator of Norway.

Helge Løken said: “When I was hired, the mandate was to focus on the company’s development capabilities. We all know that the past year has made it necessary to give technical operations a higher priority.

“I understand that the company has other needs now. Therefore, it is right for me to step aside.”

Throughout 2024 and 2025, Norsk Tipping has made a series of high-profile errors including deleting entries on a lottery draw and informing players of the Euromillions draw that they had won sums far larger than the actual amounts. In total, the company has been fined more than NOK100m (US$9.8m) in a little over 12 months.

“Helge has contributed valuable expertise and leadership during a time that has been both challenging and crucial for the company. But going forward, Norsk Tipping needs a profile with stronger operational experience, and then we will have to make some changes,” said Vegar Strand, acting CEO.
