Nolimit City revisits our favourite dwarf in Fire In The Hole 3

Reading Time: 3 minutes

It’s been a year since we’ve checked on the mining maniac himself but Nolimit City is back at the fortune-ridden mine in its latest slot. Fire In The Hole 3 marks the explosive return of one of Nolimit City’s most beloved series following the hugely popular Fire In The Hole and Fire In The Hole 2. This third sequel brings back the smell of dynamite along with a whiff of whiskey and another dwarf? Wait what?

Our dwarf seems to have been keeping himself busy, making friends and new ways to extract everything he can from the mine. To help him in his expedition, he’s uncovered some familiar Nolimit City xMechanics: xBomb®, xSplit®, xGod™ and xHole™

Icy xMechanics

xBomb® Wild Multiplier: Removes adjacent symbols and increases the win multiplier.

xSplit®: Splits symbols and doubles them, removing any affected ice blocks upon collapse.

xHole™: Drags in regular paying symbols and scatters split versions across the reels (sizes 1–3). Multiple xHole™ symbols can land at any time.

The walls are not stable as with each collapse an additional row becomes active in the Collapsing Mine. Each collapse can be triggered by a winning combination, xBomb® Wild explosion, Wild Mining feature and xHole.

The Wild Mining feature will be triggered when 3, 4, 5 or 6 of the same symbol align horizontally or vertically. The triggered symbols will be removed creating Wild Symbols where all positions above the bar, except for Bonus and Ice Buried Symbols will explode and trigger a collapse. Ice Buried features will be revealed.

Buried features may contain a Wild, xSplit®, Win multiplier (2x-100x), xHole™, Bonus symbol or a Max Symbol. These features are buried in ice and inactive until the ice block is removed by an xBomb® Wild.

Another new addition to the mine is the Gamble feature. When a win of at least 5 times the base bet, an option to win a level of Lucky Wagon Spins is presented to the player. You can try your luck to win a level of Lucky Wagon spins or choose to collect your winnings. This feature can be disabled.

Follow the dwarf down the tracks when 3, 4, or 5 Bonus Symbols trigger the Lucky Wagon spins with 2, 3 or 4 rows of the reel open initially. 6 Bonus symbols will trigger the Lucky Wagon Spins with a Persistent Dwarf guaranteed on the first spins and 4 rows of the reel open. When the reel area is full, normal coins with values are removed and their values are added to the bottom coin of their respective reels. Things heat up as xHole™, Dynamite and Persistent Dynamites can be triggered from ice blocks.

Lucky Wagon Spin Enhancers

Coin Values: Sets value of the coin.

Multipliers: Multiplies the value of all Coins, Persistent Dwarf and the coin value of the Persistent Dynamite.

Dynamite: Adds the Dynamite count as many times the bet value to the triggering coin. It then throws as many Dynamites as its count on reel positions.

Persistent Dynamite: Each spin drops a number of Dynamites equal to its count on the reel positions.

Persistent Dwarf: Collects all values in the reel area each spins.

Evil Dwarf: Triggers a Golden Spins which reactivates all the coins on the reel area. Coins will trigger their respective enhancers, boosting existing values.

xHole™: Triggers 3 Frozen Wagon Spins and transforms itself into a 1x coin.

Frozen Wagon Spins: Top enhancer row only contains coins. All the coins on the reel area will collect values from the top enhancers and add them to their existing values.

Collect Chests: Located at the bottom of the reels and initially locked, are activated by Dynamites. When a Collect Chest is activated it will collect the values of the Coins in its column.

xGod™ has been discovered hidden behind the jewels, where a Max symbol appears as a 2×2 symbol in an ice block. When the ice is cleared, a maximum payout of 70,000x the base bet is achieved. Fire In The Hole 3 is rated as “Extremely Volatile” delivering the thrilling high-stakes gameplay that Nolimit City fans know and love.

Per Lindheimer, Head of Product at Nolimit City, said: “It’s been a hot minute since we’ve checked on our favourite dwarf and we can safely say he’s back! With the Fire In The Hole series we’ve always seen positive feedback, so it felt like a no-brainer to go for a third. We had to make sure we brought something fresh to the table, so we threw in new features, returning xMechanics and plenty of ice to break! Cheers!”

Fire In The Hole 3’ will be available to all Nolimit City partners on June 3rd, 2025.

GAMEPOP: The Culture of Play by Red Bull Media House – the first bookazine devoted entirely to video game culture

Published

Introducing GAMEPOP: The Culture of Play, a new premium bookazine by Red Bull Media House and the world’s first magazine dedicated entirely to video-game culture. Designed as a rich, book-like publication, GAMEPOP rethinks what a magazine can be, capturing the creativity, personalities and ideas shaping modern gaming. GAMEPOP will debut at the Red Bull Tetris World Final in Dubai from December 11 to 13, followed by The Game Awards on December 11. The issue will then be available through select international retailers in the weeks that follow.

Across 180 pages, the issue brings together a wide range of cultural voices, including Japanese game designer Hideo Kojima, leading DC Comics creators, the Oscar-nominated team behind Grand Theft Hamlet and contributors with bylines in Vogue. The bookazine also spotlights standout Red Bull talent, including YouTube star Ludwig, Twitch creators Emiru and Caedrel, and Red Bull athlete MenaRD.

Rather than treating gaming as a standalone medium, GAMEPOP looks at how games influence, and are influenced by, wider culture. Through original photography, long-form features, illustration and visual essays, the publication explores how gaming connects to global trends in style, music, movement, storytelling and performance, and the creative communities driving that conversation.

The issue also includes interactive elements, including a bespoke Choose Your Own Adventure story created exclusively for the launch. A limited collector edition of 150 copies takes the concept a step further, featuring a fully functioning Tetris® device embedded directly into the cover – an industry first that turns the magazine into an object of play.
