‘India’s Gaming and Esports Landscape 2025’: New titles to drive 60% growth, with investments contributing 40%, says AFK Gaming’s latest survey
AFK Gaming, a leading gaming and esports media company, which was recently acquired by NODWIN Gaming, has unveiled its latest report, ‘India’s Gaming & Esports Landscape 2025,’ offering an in-depth analysis of the industry’s projected growth, emerging trends, and challenges.
The report, based on data-driven insights and a survey of business leaders and industry professionals, indicates that India’s gaming and esports sector is entering 2025 with cautious optimism, as 60% expect annual revenue growth of 10%–25% for the overall industry.
Here are some of the key insights from of the report:
- Given the option to choose multiple factors, industry stakeholders highlighted new game titles and a growing player base as the primary drivers of esports growth in 2025, with 60% identifying them as key. Next in line are investments (40%), collegiate tournaments (30%), and supportive government policies (30%), which will also act as key enablers.
- In 2025, Indian esports and gaming organisations are focusing on new IP development, with 40% of respondents emphasising this priority, followed by better monetisation of existing IPs (30%)
- Battle Royale is the top choice for developers and organisations when it comes to most promising mobile genres, with 90% of respondents citing it, while Hyper-casual games are favoured by 10%.
- 60% of survey respondents remain confident in Battlegrounds Mobile India’s (BGMI) continued dominance, while 40% anticipate that contenders may eventually overtake it. In terms of contenders, 70% of respondents believe Free Fire is the most likely to challenge BGMI’s dominance, followed by VALORANT at 20%.
- 70% of respondents believe that local themes, languages, and culturally resonant content will be key to Indian games’ global success in 2025, driving greater player affinity both at home and abroad.
- Respondents identified lack of infrastructure and reduced brand spending as the main challenges for Indian esports (30% each), followed by regulatory issues (20%), and low engagement outside metros (10%). No respondents cited a limited talent pool as a concern.

BLAST Launches Host Destination Process for Record-Breaking 2026-2027
After a blockbuster year of travelling the globe, BLAST is excited to announce the opening of its RFP process for hosting opportunities in 2026 and 2027.
This is the launch of BLAST’s competitive process for exciting 2026 and 2027 event-hosting opportunities for five of the biggest games in the world at the moment: Counter-Strike, Dota 2, Fortnite, Rocket League and Rainbow Six.
2024 was another year of growth for BLAST, hosting events for ecosystems both existing such as BLAST Premier and BLAST R6 as well as new ventures in Rocket League, Fortnite and Dota2. With 14 events taking place in 2025, spanning four different continents, it’s an exciting time to take esports to new destinations and fanbases both budding and established in 2026 and 2027.

Barcelona editions of ICE and iGB Affiliate will set a new world attendance record – confirms Stuart Hunter
Clarion Gaming has confirmed that the 2025 Barcelona editions of ICE and iGB Affiliate will be recorded as the biggest gathering of gambling industry professionals in history.
Ahead of the final analysis being completed Clarion Gaming Managing Director Stuart Hunter stated: “Whilst we are in the process of undertaking all of the forensic checks and data interrogations I can confirm that the combined attendance for both shows will set a new world attendance record for any gambling event.
“We are confidently predicting an attendance of at least 56,000 industry professionals which exceeds the previous high of 52,345 set 12-months ago in London. We have taken the unprecedented step of announcing these figures due to the level of interest generated by what were two historic events.
“The final analysis will allow us to declare the number of unique visitors for both ICE and iGB Affiliate, the number of visitor days completed and a breakdown of nations represented. I can say that all of the indicators are in positive territory.”
Reflecting on the delivery of ICE and iGB Affiliate 2025, Stuart Hunter added: “We will commence a comprehensive company-wide debrief in week commencing 3rd February but all of the feedback published across every media channel and the comments that have been sent direct to me have been hugely positive.
“I believe the experience we enjoyed in Barcelona and the window it provided on the industry was a result of a number of factors. Our world class exhibitors and the contractors they employed delivered an unbelievable representation of the industry, the Clarion Gaming team showed why they are the very best in the business working seamlessly with their peers at the Fira Gran Via Barcelona, the marketing and creative campaign resonated with our stakeholder communities and finally our host city demonstrated why it is such a popular international destination.
