Casino Guru Awards 2025, with nominations now open, introduces new categories and a grand Live Ceremony in Malta
Casino Guru is thrilled to announce the 3rd annual Casino Guru Awards, launching with open nominations and a new milestone: an exclusive live ceremony. This year’s event will honor outstanding contributions to the iGaming industry with even greater prestige, celebrating transparency, social responsibility, and positive influence at the luxurious Hilton Hotel in St. Julian’s, Malta.
After two successful years, the Casino Guru Awards 2025 will continue to uphold rigorous standards of fairness and transparency in iGaming. This year’s awards feature two new categories aimed at recognizing influential individuals and empowering players to vote for their favorite game provider:
Players’ Choice – This category invites the public, particularly players, to vote for their preferred game provider from a shortlist curated by Casino Guru experts. The winner will be chosen entirely by the public, without intervention from judges, ensuring a true reflection of player preferences and trust.
iGaming Changemaker of the Year – This category honors individuals who have demonstrated exceptional influence and leadership within the online gambling industry. Nominations should highlight nominees’ contributions through impactful projects, initiatives, or other success stories.
The full list of award categories includes:
The Fairest Bonus Policy
The Fairest General Terms & Conditions
The Most Impactful Social Responsibility Initiative
The Best Implementation of Responsible Gambling Tools
The Most Transparent Casino
The Most Effective Handling of Complaints
The Most Ethical Approach to Marketing
Players’ Choice
iGaming Changemaker of the Year
Voice of the People
Applications are open until February 28, 2025. Once the shortlisting is completed, voting for both “Players’ Choice” and “Voice of the People” will open simultaneously. The final awards ceremony will take place on June 6, 2025.
An unforgettable evening of recognition in Malta
For the first time, the Casino Guru Awards will host an in-person gala on June 6, 2025, at the prestigious Hilton Hotel in St. Julian’s, Malta. This invite-only event promises an evening of elegance and celebration, beginning with a three-course dinner and complimentary drinks.
Following the awards presentation, the festivities will continue at Level 22—a sophisticated wine lounge and club located on the 22nd floor of the Portomaso Business Tower, offering breathtaking views of St. Julian’s. The ceremony will bring together shortlisted companies, esteemed judges, media partners, sponsors, and industry leaders, setting the stage for a night of recognition, networking, and celebration.
Daniela Sliva, PR & Creative Project Director at Casino Guru, leader of the Casino Guru Awards project, shared her excitement for the upcoming ceremony:
“Launching the third edition with a live event in Malta is a thrilling milestone for Casino Guru Awards. Each year, we see more incredible work from industry pioneers, and this year, we look forward to honoring them in person. We believe this live event will capture the spirit of excellence and innovation in iGaming, and we’re excited to create an unforgettable evening for our nominees and guests.”

Spillemyndigheden Calls Attention to FATF’s Updated Lists of High-risk Jurisdictions
The Danish Gambling Authority has called attention to FATF’s (Financial Action Task Force) updated lists of high-risk jurisdictions: the Grey List (jurisdictions under increased monitoring) and Black List (call for actions). Among other things, gambling operators must include FATF’s lists of high-risk jurisdictions when assessing players’ risk.
Jurisdictions listed on the Grey List are Algeria, Angola, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, the Ivory Coast, Croatia, DR Congo, Haiti, Kenya, Laos, Lebanon, Mali, Monaco, Mozambique, Namibia, Nepal, Nigeria, South Africa, South Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Venezuela, Vietnam and Yemen.
Jurisdictions listed on the Black List are Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Iran and Myanmar
Gambling operators are required to conduct enhanced customer due diligence (EDD) pursuant to section 17(1) of the Danish AML Act, if a player is assessed to impose a higher risk of the gambling operator being misused for money laundering or terrorist financing.
Gambling operators shall conduct this risk assessment based on Annex 3 to the AML Act (high-risk factors) which includes the FATF high-risk country lists (the so called black list and grey list)
It is not required that gambling operators perform EDD if a country is listed on the FATF’s list. EDD are only a requirement for players from jurisdictions listed in the EU Regulation of High Risk Third Country list pursuant to. 17(2) of the AML Act.
