Victoria Commission Launches Inquiry to Help Improve Bingo Regulations

Victorians will be able to help shape a fairer, more modern bingo-playing landscape as part of a wide-ranging inquiry into regulation of the gambling activity, the Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission (VGCCC) announced.

By collaborating with industry stakeholders and the community, the Commission aims to deepen understanding of sector challenges and explore ways to enhance regulatory and industry practices, keeping the game social, safe and fair.

Commercially run bingo generates significant revenue. In FY23, reported bingo revenue was $107 million. This significantly exceeds Keno revenue in the same year of $61 million.

It is a game played by many communities and offers social interaction and the potential for prizes, with a proportion of proceeds designated to fund charities.

“In recent years, the commercial bingo landscape has modernised, transitioning from traditional paper-based gameplay to electronic enhancements with substantial jackpots”, said Commission Chair, Fran Thorn.

“Given this evolution, it is crucial for us to assess and address issues of fairness, integrity, and the potential for gambling harm, particularly among at risk groups such as seniors, First Nations communities, women, and lower income individuals.”

“Despite regulatory oversight, we continue to receive reports and allegations of unlicensed operators and potentially fraudulent activities,” Thorn added.

“This is an opportunity to really understand how bingo works and how it is evolving with technology. We understand the social outlet that bingo provides for many community members. We want to understand the risks, reduce the potential for harm, and put a stop to any behaviours threatening the integrity and fairness of the game.”

The VGCCC has invited all interested parties, including customers, industry participants, community organisations, and concerned citizens, to participate in the inquiry and contribute to shaping the future of Victoria’s gambling landscape.

Leading UK slot studio unveils exciting addition to Flintstones™ series with expanded reelset and enriched base game trail

Blueprint Gaming™ reignites the prehistoric fun in its latest major branded IP release, The Flintstones™ Bedrock Riches, led by two lavish bonus games and an intriguing base play trail.

The series’ original, The Flintstones™, enjoyed a strong initial uptake in users following its launch in May 2024, with players gravitating towards the familiarity of the brand and series. The renowned slot studio now feels confident the latest offering has built on key features and aims to retain players long term.

A clear showstopper in the new title is Bedrock Riches, the concluding feature of the money trail that is activated in the Cash Spins bonus once a certain number of collect symbols have been gathered during the base game.

In an exciting twist, players are actively involved in the additional bonus mode where they must choose from an array of coins to receive rewards, helping Fred and Barney race through the Speed Trail to Bedrock’s Bowling Alley.

Cash Prize, Speed Up, Double Speed Up, Triple Speed Up and Jackpot, rising to 1,000x, are rewards on offer throughout Bedrock Riches, with players also guaranteed the additional benefit of a higher average win percentage throughout.

Landing three scatter symbols holds the key to the Cash Spins bonus where a range of new special icons are also on show, including Wilma symbols that adds a random cash prize to any active row and Dino, which boosts one or more cash prize symbols in view for every spin until the end of the feature.

The beloved Yabba Dabba Doo feature also marks a welcome return with a stylish revamp. Triggered at random during any spin, either Bonus Boosts are awarded, where additional scatters are added to the reels, or Bedrock Bowl Wilds, where additional wilds will appear.

Blueprint Gaming’s Jo Purvis, Director of Marketing, PR and Events, said: “Our original Flintstones™ offering took Blueprint Gaming’s stellar branded library of slots to new heights, and The Flintstones™ Bedrock Riches ensures we maintain an enriched IP-led, Yabba Dabba Doo experience.

“Two interactive, bountiful bonus games lead the way and set the tone for our thrilling summer schedule, packed with stylish branded releases and exciting additions to some of our beloved series over the years.”
