Checkd Dev Expands Opta Deal with Stats Perform
Agreement covers high-converting Smart Acca tool across football and United States sports
Sports betting technology specialist Checkd Dev, part of award-winning Checkd Group, has signed an expanded sports data licensing deal with long-term partner and Opta data owner Stats Perform.
The new multi-year agreement enables licensed operators to embed Checkd Dev’s Opta data-powered Smart Acca interactive betting tool into market pages for football and United States sports in their online and mobile sportsbooks.
Checkd Dev’s Smart Acca product was originally built for its award-winning Betting Hub app to help bettors quickly interrogate detailed and trusted Opta team and player stats contextual to their potential bets across multiple games and competitions and see odds for that bet.
It delivers a slick path to bet placement for recreational gamblers, targeting those building accumulator (also known as multi or parlay) bets, which are booming in popularity but typically are harder for sportsbooks to provide stats and insights to help bettors make informed decisions.
Smart Acca is currently delivering high conversion to bet placement with data analysis showing that users also add more legs to accumulator bets than average, leading to superior margins for operators.
The Smart Acca API is already powering pre-match betting research into football markets like goal scorers, shots, shots on target and fouls inside sportsbooks in the United Kingdom like Sky Bet, William Hill and Paddy Power, keeping bettors on-site instead of needing to leave to research their bets.
The latest success for Checkd Dev follows the launch of the Boxing News app and the creation of the North America-focused FlashPicks app. Based on Betting Hub technology, it also utilises historical Opta data feeds.
“This is an important deal with a long-term valued partner in Stats Perform, which means bettors using Smart Acca in their chosen sportsbook are using Opta data, the most recognised and trusted sports stats in the business,” the Commercial Director for Checkd Dev, Andrew Grimshaw, said. “Bettors are presented with the most relevant competition and market selections ranked by statistical form leading to compelling betting opportunities. In addition, all of this is displayed on a single page meaning they can place accumulators faster than traditional online journeys.
“Smart Acca has been a landmark hit with bettors both through our proprietary B2C products and when licensed to leading operator partners in the United Kingdom. It’s the perfect complement to any sportsbook offering multi-game and same-game accumulators. We look forward to providing it to a broad range of new partners, across more competitions and sports.”
“Smart Acca technology is a very impressive betting solution that has already enriched and simplified the process of choosing an accumulator bet for end users,” the Betting Products Vice-President for Stats Perform, Nick Cockerill, said. “We’re proud that Checkd Dev has chosen Opta data to build trusted, magic experiences from the detail of sport. Smart Acca is a great example of one of those experiences; a highly innovative B2B product that showcases how our sports data helps bring fans and bettors closer to the game.”

GamCare Releases Evaluation of its Money Guidance Service
The gambling support charity GamCare is today releasing a new evaluation report of its Money Guidance Service, entitled ‘Bridging the Gap between Gambling Support and Debt Advice.’
The service is believed to be the first and only national initiative offering gambling-specific money guidance. It provides tailored support to individuals affected by gambling-related harm.
Evaluated by Dr Xia Lin and Professor Alessio D’Angelo – two experts in social and health research – the findings show the service filling a critical gap between gambling support and debt advice, providing trusted, valued and effective support to those struggling with gambling related-financial harm.
GamCare established the Money Guidance Service in 2022 – initially with pilot schemes in the East Midlands and Yorkshire and Humber – to support people with the financial impact that gambling harm can lead to. The service was rolled out nationally in 2023, where people could access a referral when calling GamCare’s National Gambling Helpline alongside the charity’s treatment services.
The evaluation report found:
- The one-to-one guidance offered through the service had helped enhanced financial stability, reduce debt, support recovery and contributed to their overall wellbeing.
- Participants in the report highlight the powerful impact of budgeting in helping manage finances, and the long-term impact of increasing their confidence and hope for the future.
- The Money Guidance team had also provided a significant level of internal training for advisors on the National Gambling Helpline, giving more confidence to make referrals and provide basic money guidance to callers.
- Stakeholders within the gambling harms and debt advice sectors also recognised the service as successfully bridging the gap between gambling support and debt advice, providing holistic assistance to those using the service.
Kathy Wade, Money Guidance Service Manager at GamCare, commented: “It’s fantastic to see the impact that the team has had in helping people recover from gambling-related financial issues, especially as we continue to rising costs impacted people in Britain. This report highlights the important steps the team is taking in helping people get back on their feet after gambling-related debt. We’re looking forward to implementing the recommendations of the report and continue building an excellent service which helps people get back in control of their finances.”
One anonymous service user said: “When I was gambling, I felt like I had completely lost control of everything.
