There is a proposal in the Dutch government to increase the current 29% gambling tax rate to 29.5%.

Representatives of the four parliamentary groups comprising the current coalition in the Netherlands have tabled an amendment in the Dutch Parliament that increases an earlier government proposal to raise the tax rate by 0.3%.

The four parliamentary groups, the VVD, D66, CDA and CU, have between them a majority in the Dutch Lower House. This means that the proposal is almost certain to be adopted.

Another previous motion in the Lower House had suggested that the gambling tax should be cut to 25%, but it was cancelled.
