GameMaker, the multi-million download 2D game development engine, is now accessible to millions of new creators with the launch of Polish, Korean, Italian and Japanese language support.

As part of version 2022.3 being released today, the application IDE, manual, tutorials and supporting materials for GameMaker (formerly GameMaker Studio 2) are now available in four new languages, providing localised support for creators within these countries.

For the first time, creators will also be able to upload and play native video assets within their games, with the launch of the new Video Playback feature, available on all platforms. Instead of having to create video assets within GameMaker from scratch, creators can now use Video Playback to quickly create intros, slash scenes, cutscenes and more by simply uploading and playing their chosen video assets.

The latest version of GameMaker also introduces export support for Steam Deck –  Valve’s recently launched handheld PC, allowing creators to share their games with audiences on the latest platforms.

“It’s always been our vision to make creating games as easy and accessible as possible, which is why we’re proud to introduce Polish, Korean, Italian and Japanese support for millions of new game creators,” said Russel Kay, Head of GameMaker. ”In addition, the ability for native video playback within GameMaker is something our community has been demanding for a long time. We’re excited to be able to finally include Video Playback as part of the latest version, helping creators to make beautiful games more easily.”
