Upset Hindus urge Malta firm to withdraw Lord Ganesha online slot gambling game & apologize

Upset Hindus are urging Pocket Games Soft (PG Soft), a mobile game development company based in Valletta (Malta), to immediately withdraw its 3D video slot game “Ganesha Gold”, calling it highly inappropriate.
Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that inappropriate usage of Hindu deities or concepts or symbols for commercial or other agenda was not okay as it hurt the devotees,
Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, urged PG Soft and its CEO to publicly apologize and immediately recall this slot game showing image of Hindu deity Lord Ganesha. Associating Lord Ganesha with gambling was very insensitive.
Rajan Zed pointed out that Lord Ganesha was highly revered in Hinduism and was meant to be worshipped in temples or home shrines and not for inducing susceptible public to online gambling for the mercantile greed of an international company.
Hinduism was the oldest and third largest religion of the world with about 1.1 billion adherents and a rich philosophical thought and it should not be taken frivolously. Symbols of any faith, larger or smaller, should not be mishandled, Zed noted.
Rajan Zed is also urging the intervention in this matter of Malta Parliamentary Secretary for Financial Services Silvio Schembri, Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) Board Chairman Marlene Seychell and MGA CEO Heathcliff Farrugia. MGA should act as its “activities” include “Monitoring licensed gaming” and its “aims’ include “Ensure the integrity of games and gaming devices”, Zed added.
Zed also suggested PG Soft’s partners; like Nektan, Relax Gaming, Leander, SoftGamings, SBOBET, etc.; to persuade it to send its executives for training in religious and cultural sensitivity and do thorough homework before designing new products.
In Hinduism, Lord Ganesha is worshipped as god of wisdom and remover of obstacles and is invoked before the beginning of any major undertaking.
“Ganesha Gold”, which says “win up to 243 ways”, “is a 5-reel, 3-row video slot featuring Free Spins Feature”.
PG Soft; which claims to be “a world-class mobile games company”; has “offices based in Europe, North America and Asia”. It prides itself “to deliver immersive gaming solutions on iOS, Android, and HTML5 platforms”.

Veikkaus Continues Preparations for the Partial Multi-license System Set to Open in 2027

Veikkaus is continuing its preparations for the partial multi-license system set to open in 2027. The company aims to remain the market leader in the Finnish gambling sector in the coming years.
Veikkaus has been systematically preparing for the future for a long time. Efforts to strengthen the company’s competitiveness are ongoing: Veikkaus will continue to focus on its core business and, through this, ensure growth in gross gaming revenue in a responsible way.
Many gambling companies aiming to enter the Finnish market are actively preparing to challenge Veikkaus when the licensing market opens.
“Competition will certainly be very tough, as many signs already indicate. Veikkaus is a strong company that will succeed in the competition, but as an organization, we must transform to meet the new situation,” said Reija Laaksonen, EVP, People, Culture and Communications at Veikkaus.
As part of the company’s strategy, Veikkaus will initiate change negotiations affecting three different functions. In total, at the time the negotiation proposal was given, 75 Veikkaus employees are within the scope of the negotiations. The planned measures could, if implemented, lead to personnel impacts as defined in Section 16 of the Act on Co-operation within Undertakings, such as redundancies or unilateral changes to essential terms of employment.
According to current estimates, the negotiations may result in the termination of a total of 20–31 employment contracts and substantial changes to the terms of employment for 20–30 employees. At the same time, it is planned that 22–28 new roles and positions will be created within the functions involved in the negotiations.
“When targeting possible measures, Veikkaus will pay particular attention to the requirements of business operations and ensuring competence in line with Veikkaus’ strategy. Any measures will be implemented in accordance with applicable legislation,” said Laaksonen.
