NOVOMATIC Italia Announces New Board of Directors
Reading Time: 2 minutes
NOVOMATIC Group has appointed new Directors to NOVOMATIC Italia’s Director Board.
The new Director Board is headed by Chairman Franco Rota who has been part of the management team since 2007.
“It makes me proud to see how in almost 12 years NOVOMATIC Italia has grown to become a leading provider of services and technologies of all kinds. There is no segment of the Italian gaming market that we haven’t scrutinized to deliver highly specialized and advanced know how. It is a great achievement to see that today the company that started out in 2007 with a handful of employees, has become a large enterprise with 2,800 staff,” Franco Rota said.
Olga Rodrigo has been appointed as the new CEO of the group. She is having a deep knowledge of the Italian market, both of the regulations and of the complexity of the players that compose the system of Italian legal gaming.
“I am very happy to put my enthusiasm and my expertise at the service of NOVOMATIC Italia. The NOVOMATIC Group proves its commitment to Italy as one of the most important countries in Europe. It is therefore essential to consolidate and increase our market leadership by leveraging synergy and collaboration: I am sure that only by working together and sharing common goals, we can obtain the expected results that can allow everyone to feel like active protagonists in their own professional reality,” Olga Rodrigo said.
Markus Buechele is the new CFO of the group. He started his NOVOMATIC career in 2006 at the headquarters in Austria and has been part of the Board of NOVOMATIC Italia since 2008.
“I was able to actively contribute to the fantastic growth of the Group from the beginning – and also throughout delicate times for the Italian legal gaming sector, from the fiscal and regulatory point of view. I feel a great responsibility to all my colleagues and to our reference stakeholder, the mother company, and I am proud of the work done in recent years. It is essential to continue working together and to face the objective difficulties of the whole sector with a spirit of teamwork and the necessary motivation to make a difference compared to our competitors,” Markus Buechele said.
The new constitution of the Board of Directors was augmented by a new personality, Karl Plank, who joined the top management as Chief Operating Officer (COO).
“It is an honour for me to be on this Board of Directors. My commitment will be focused on the Gaming Operations, with the aim to develop a collaborative work so that NOVOMATIC Italia becomes a best practice example for the legal Italian gaming sector. Not only as far as the gaming offer is concerned but also with regard to the best practices in terms of Responsible Gaming, from the environmental point of view but also as an employer,” Karl Plank said.
“We are working towards a process of organisational simplification, towards responsibility and the valorization of everyone’s abilities. We strongly believe that the key to success lies in technological evolution and in taking new roads, confirming the pioneering nature of the Group, and being the forerunner in innovation,” Bartholomäus Czapkiewicz, CTO of NOVOMATIC said.

Ygam team up with TSB Bank
Ygam and TSB Bank have joined forces to help increase understanding of in-game spending and help young gamers manage their money with confidence.
Ygam and TSB Bank have joined forces to help increase understanding of in-game spending and help young gamers manage their money with confidence.
As part of this collaboration, they have co-created specialist educational resources for schools. Developed with Ygam’s expertise and delivered by TSB Bank staff as part of their school’s programme which runs throughout the UK, the module aims to provide young gamers with practical guidance on managing their money and understanding potential financial risks while gaming.
A recent Censuswide survey of over 2,000 young gamers, commissioned by TSB, found that while the average initial cost of a game is £32, gamers spend an average of £540 annually on in-game purchases and subscriptions. Nearly half (47%) of those who spend money in-game feel they have little or no control over their spending while playing.
Linda Scollins Smith, Director of Programmes at Ygam, said: “Gaming now plays a central role in young people’s lives, offering significant benefits. However, it is always important to safeguard against the risks, and the increasing sophistication of game monetisation through microtransactions and in-game purchases underscores the need for education on this issue. We are delighted to be working with TSB to support their school programmes, combining financial education with gaming education, to help young gamers develop healthy habits and navigate the digital world safely.”
Kate Osiadacz, Head of Responsible Business, TSB, said: “Gaming is often one of young people’s first interactions with spending or managing their money digitally; so we’re pleased to be working with Ygam to reach young people with targeted advice. Our Money Confident schools programme greatly benefits from Ygam’s insight – and we’re keen help empower the next generation to make informed decisions for their financial lives ahead.”
According to a 2024 Mumsnet survey commissioned by Ygam, 88% of parents in the UK believe schools should provide education on gaming, despite only 35% reporting that their children currently do. Furthermore, 99% of these parents think this education should begin by the end of Key Stage 2.
Alongside developing educational resources, Ygam and TSB Bank will collaborate on a range of initiatives throughout 2025 to raise awareness of this issue and support families in avoiding unexpected costs from gaming.
