Henrik Tjärnström, the CEO of Kindred Group, has urged European lawmakers to offer an improved EU single market in online gambling and other similar sectors for online consumers in the continent. He was delivering the keynote speech in Brussels “2019 European Elections: The Case For and Against the EU”, which was conducted jointly by POLITICO and EGBA.

He said: “At Kindred, we saw an opportunity in the rise of Internet, and the benefits of a common single market where all EU citizens could enjoy the same products and services as their neighbours. Our purpose has always been to give our customers a better, fairer, and safer online gambling experience, driven by technology.”

He added that even though the digital revolution offered all companies big opportunities and, greater access to information, it also created new challenges and responsibilitiesHe urged regulators and companies in the gambling companies to take greater responsibility to protect customer trust.

He called for a functioning single EU market:

“The EU has always been a strong advocate for consumers through the single market. But, it needs to work better, particularly for online consumers. That’s why I’m particularly pleased that the European Council recently concluded that digital single market rules need to be more efficient, and better enforced, and barriers should be removed.”
