Lenovo announced it will be sponsoring Resurgence, one of Singapore’s largest eSports organisations, comprising professional players and content creators. The partnership is part of Lenovo’s efforts to support the growth of the local esports landscape, and will feature provision of gaming equipment from Lenovo’s Legion brand, as well as monetary support for upgrades to Resurgence’s headquarters and training facility.
-
This partnership is part of Lenovo’s commitment to supporting the development of Singapore’s gaming ecosystem through its Legion brand
-
The investment will enable upgrades to Resurgence’s hardware and facilities, and encourage creation of sustainable careers for the organisation’s players and content creators
-
In addition to monetary support, Lenovo will be providing 12 Legion T530 towers to Resurgence
Establishing this strategic partnership is in line with Lenovo’s gaming strategy to broaden reach of the Legion brand, cross-pollinate expertise, and encourage growth of the gaming ecosystem. Southeast Asia is home to more than 9.5 million gaming enthusiasts. In Singapore, interest and prominence of online gaming continues to grow rapidly. A recent report showed that Singaporeans spend 7.44 hours each week on online games, the highest in Asia Pacific.
Resurgence has been making steady investments into developing player capabilities and nurturing the esports community locally. They will also compete to represent Singapore in the newly-formed esports category at the 2019 SEA Games.
Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Eddie Ang, General Manager of Lenovo Singapore said, “We are thrilled to partner with Resurgence. Lenovo is committed to gaming and is constantly innovating to ensure our Legion devices offer an unparalleled gaming experience. This partnership is our way of extending our passion and continuous investment in gaming to the wider eSports community.”
A total of 12 Legion T530 towers will be sponsored to upgrade Resurgence’s gaming hardware. Engineered and designed to deliver an ideal balance of aesthetics and performance for every gamer, the Legion T530 provides superior processing power needed for high setting and smooth gameplay. Through the investment, Lenovo hopes to empower Resurgence to achieve its full potential in the gaming arena, and consequently cultivate wider interest and support for eSports as more Singaporeans increasingly consider gaming a sustainable career option.
Mr. Jayf Soh, Founder, Owner & CEO of Resurgence said, “There are a lot of common values shared by both Resurgence and Lenovo. For one, we share the belief in pushing limits until they shatter. It is a huge honour to be recognized and endorsed by such a premier global brand. I am confident with their fast and powerful desktops, our players will be granted the best possible edge in their training and achieve stellar results in their tournaments.”
Earlier this year Lenovo hosted the Legion of Champions tournament in Bangkok, its flagship gaming event representing Lenovo’s commitment to growing the gaming ecosystem in Asia Pacific. LOC aims to give gamers a high-profile platform to gather, compete and network with other gamers, key gaming industry brands and experts.

Spillemyndigheden Calls Attention to FATF’s Updated Lists of High-risk Jurisdictions
The Danish Gambling Authority has called attention to FATF’s (Financial Action Task Force) updated lists of high-risk jurisdictions: the Grey List (jurisdictions under increased monitoring) and Black List (call for actions). Among other things, gambling operators must include FATF’s lists of high-risk jurisdictions when assessing players’ risk.
Jurisdictions listed on the Grey List are Algeria, Angola, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, the Ivory Coast, Croatia, DR Congo, Haiti, Kenya, Laos, Lebanon, Mali, Monaco, Mozambique, Namibia, Nepal, Nigeria, South Africa, South Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Venezuela, Vietnam and Yemen.
Jurisdictions listed on the Black List are Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Iran and Myanmar
Gambling operators are required to conduct enhanced customer due diligence (EDD) pursuant to section 17(1) of the Danish AML Act, if a player is assessed to impose a higher risk of the gambling operator being misused for money laundering or terrorist financing.
Gambling operators shall conduct this risk assessment based on Annex 3 to the AML Act (high-risk factors) which includes the FATF high-risk country lists (the so called black list and grey list)
It is not required that gambling operators perform EDD if a country is listed on the FATF’s list. EDD are only a requirement for players from jurisdictions listed in the EU Regulation of High Risk Third Country list pursuant to. 17(2) of the AML Act.
