Microgaming, through its CSR initiative PlayItForward, has donated £30,000 between four charities as part of its 2018 Gift of Giving campaign.

Gift of Giving provides key customers and contacts of Microgaming with the opportunity to vote for one of several charities in their region. In lieu of Christmas gifts, £30,000 is split equally between four global regions: Isle of Man, UK and Europe, Africa, and Rest of the World.

Running in December 2018, the sixth annual Gift of Giving took total donations through the campaign to £180,000.

In the 2018 campaign, the charities that received the highest number of votes in each region were Heroes on the Water (Isle of Man), Teenage Cancer Trust (UK and Europe), Save the Rhino International (Africa), and Médecins Sans Frontières (Rest of the World).

Heroes on the Water Isle of Man was launched in 2014 as a fundraising partner for Heroes on the Water UK, which offers military veterans the unique therapy combination of the physical challenge of kayaking combined with fishing and the relaxing effects of water to provide rehabilitation and integration for its members.

Around seven young people aged between 13 and 24 are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK. Teenage Cancer Trust works with these young cancer patients to ensure they don’t have to face the disease alone. The charity helps young people and their families deal with the many ways cancer can affect an individual’s body, mind and life.

Winning for the fourth year in a row for the Africa region was Save the Rhino International (UK registered charity: 1035072). The charity’s vision is for all five rhino species to be thriving in the wild for generations to come. Celebrating its 25th birthday this month, Save the Rhino International collaborates with partners to support endangered rhinos in Africa and Asia including Rhino Dog Squad programme, which plays a vital role in protecting rhinos across Ol Jogi, Ol Pejeta and Lewa Conservancies in Kenya. Watch this video to find out more about Save the Rhino International.

Founded in 1971, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international and independent medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters and exclusion from healthcare. The charity also won the Gift of Giving vote back in 2014, 2016 and 2017.

Meridianbet, a member of the Golden Matrix Group (NASDAQ: GMGI), in partnership with Meridianbet Foundation, Expanse Studios, and BC Crvena zvezda Meridianbet announces the launch of a significant humanitarian initiative, ‘Scan. Help.’, aimed at supporting maternity hospitals across Southeast Europe.

The rollout of this action to other market territories is expected in the remainder of 2024.

How It Works

For every scanned QR code and subsequent registration on the Meridian Foundation’s website, funds will be allocated towards equipping five maternity hospitals in Serbia. This innovative approach not only raises awareness but also actively involves the community in our CSR activities.

The initiative is currently ongoing with high media presence and is broadcasted during Southeast Europe’s regional basketball Finals series (ABA League). BC Red Star players wear jerseys featuring the QR code, with additional promotion through basketball arena ads, TV ads, and more, encouraging fans and supporters to participate.

A Unified Effort for Community Impact

The ‘Scan. Help.’ campaign is a collaborative effort involving Meridianbet, Meridianbet foundation, Expanse Studios, and basketball club Crvena zvezda Meridianbet, Southeast Europe’s leading basketball club, of which Meridianbet is the name sponsor. The initiative is designed to leverage our collective resources and influence to make a meaningful impact on local communities.

Multi-Stakeholder Support and Growing Participation

The ‘Scan. Help.’ campaign has received institutional support ad backing from the Ministry of Health, reinforcing the importance and legitimacy of this cause. Additionally, several companies have already expressed their desire to contribute, with provisions made for donations through the Meridian Foundation’s account. This broadening support network amplifies the initiative’s reach and potential impact.

This campaign exemplifies Meridianbet’s dedication to sustainable development and community well-being. In 2023 alone, the company has launched 225 CSR campaigns, reflecting the commitment to making a lasting impact.
