Cyprus Deputy Minister for Tourism Savvas Perdios has stated that casinos are for promoting local tourism. He was visiting the two properties that Melco Group launched in Cyprus in 2018.

Lawrence Ho, Chairman and CEO of Melco Group, welcomed the minister at Cyprus Casinos C2 Nicosia. Both had a meaningful discussion on government’s strategy for tourism and Melco’s plan for City of Dreams Mediterranean Integrated Casino Resort (ICR), which will become the biggest casino facility in Europe, and all casinos properties in the country.

“We consider Melco an important contributor to Cyprus’ tourism in establishing the island as a popular and must-visit destination. Our goals are aligned and we will have a close cooperation in establishing Europe’s biggest casino resort and putting Cyprus on the global tourism map,” said Perdios.

Moreover, Ho highlighted Melco’s commitment to the project and said that Cyprus has all it needs to enhance its reputation as a regional and global premium destination and emerge as a genuine point of reference for luxury tourism and responsible gaming. “The ICR will provide extraordinary benefits to Cyprus’ economy with a positive impact on the country’s Gross Domestic Product and in tackling unemployment,” he added.
