OPAP, the gambling monopoly in Greece, has seen a surge in profit in the third quarter. The profits zoomed by 18.5 per cent to €39 million, thanks mainly to its burgeoning video lottery business.
OPAP is Europe’s fifth-biggest betting firm in terms of revenue. The company’s gross gaming revenue (GGR) increased by 3 per cent to reach €368.9 million. It operates 16,000 video lottery terminals, with 3,000 terminals being in the pipeline.
OPAP had been state-owned till 2013, when it was sold by the state.
