A post office employee in Louisiana has been charged with stealing stamps worth more than $630,000 and then selling them online to support his gambling addiction.
Ryan Cortez, a 46-year-old manager in a post office, has been arrested on charges including misappropriating postal funds or property. Many say that this is one of the biggest post heists in the history of U.S. Postal Service.
A criminal complaint says the Kenner man told authorities he put the stolen stamps on eBay and sold them online to support his gambling activities. The complaint says Cortez also robbed nearly $10,000 from a church where he worked as a treasurer.
