Harrah’s Philadelphia applies for sports betting licenseReading Time: 1 minute

Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino and Racetrack have applied for sports betting license in Pennsylvania, becoming the third applicant in the state, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has announced on Tuesday.

The company plans to provide land-based, mobile, and interactive sports wagering.

Caesars Interactive Entertainment LLC, a subsidiary of Harrah’s owner, Caesars Entertainment Corp., will operate the interactive sports betting services.

Sports betting was legalised in Pennsylvania after the U.S. Supreme Court in May declared a federal ban unconstitutional.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course in Dauphin County filed the state’s first sports betting application in August, followed by Parx Casino in Bensalem, which also applied to accept sports bets at its off-track racing outlet near Philadelphia’s stadium complex.

The gaming control board is expected to begin considering the applications in October. Successful applicants must pay a $10 million license fee to the state before they can begin to accept bets.
