Police in Hernando County, Miami, has said that a manager of a casino has shot and killed his nephew after an altercation. According to the police, the nephew had gone there to pacify his uncle. The shooting happened at Lucky Fish Games on Northcliffe Boulevard in Spring Hill at about 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Roger Vazquez, the 55-year-old casino manager, lost his temper and was acting erratically when his 44-year-old nephew, Raymond Correa, walked into calm his uncle down. People familiar with their relations said that this happens frequently and Correa usually managed to calm his uncle down. But not this time.

Once Correa arrived at the gaming centre, he and the other manager convinced Vazquez to unload the gun he was holding and put it on the counter.

Detectives said Vazquez then pulled out another gun and pointed it at his nephew, eventually shooting him twice. Sheriff’s office authorities said Vazquez continued to shoot Correa as he laid on the ground. Correa was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses who heard the gunshots ran to a nearby business to call authorities. One man went back into the building and asked what happened.

Deputies said Vazquez pointed a gun at him and told him it “didn’t concern him.” The man then left to call 911 and waited outside.

Vazquez surrendered to deputies when they arrived and was taken to the Hernando County Detention Center. He is being held on charges of homicide and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
