The first seven months of activity saw the Italian retail betting reaching unprecedented highs. The industry garnered revenues of €490.6 million during this period, boosted obviously by the FIFA World Cup.
Within the country, Naples recorded the most revenue during the last seven months as it reached €71.4 million. Gamblers wagered €448 million across the 1263 retail betting points across the region.
The capital city, Rome, and its surrounding area recorded a €39.2 million revenue, with betting turnover of €223.5 million and came in second. Milan followed them both as it recorded bets of €139.6 million and revenue of €26.3 million.
The news outlet reported that the country’s overall sports betting revenue reached €852 million in the first seven months of the year, which meant a 43.3 per cent increase year-on-year.
