Betsson, the premier online gambling company in Sweden, posted a rise in revenue of 14 per cent. The revenue increased from SEK1.177m to SEK1.346m during the first quarter of the year.
Casino revenue increased by 16 per cent and sportsbook income rose by 17 per cent. The company reported that 3.7 per cent of the group revenue in the second quarter was related to the World Cup.
Operating income was SEK300.7m, up 45 per cent on the equivalent quarter last year of SEK206.9m.
For the half-year the group’s revenues were SEK 2.255m, up 12 per cent, and net income was up from SEK400.5m to SEK459.4m.
CEO Pontus Lindwall said that the increased revenue was principally in western Europe and increased activity during the football World Cup.
