GIG partners Perform for sports betting launch

Gaming Innovation Group is to work with digital sports content and media group Perform to support the launch of its new sports betting brand.

Due to go live ahead of this summer’s Fifa World Cup, GIG Sports will offer users a range of services, with GIG describing the brand as a “serious challenger” to the sports betting sector.

GIG Sports will consist of a product portfolio containing both aggregated and in-house generated odds and data services, trading and risk management platform, business intelligence and marketing platform, as well as mobile first front-end technology.

Services can be sold stand alone or as a turnkey solution, with the ability to fully integrate with GIG’s platform services.

Under the new agreement with Perform, the digital sports content and media group will collect, produce, package and distribute data, editorial and video for professional sports competitions around the world.

Perform is the company behind the RunningBall and Opta sports data brands.

As part of the deal, Perform has taken over a network of scouts in Norway from GIG, all of whom have been vetted and assessed against RunningBall’s standards and engaged directly by RunningBall to enhance official coverage.

In GIG Sports we will use data to disrupt the world of sports betting,” GIG chief executive Robin Reed said.

Perform Group is the market leader on sports data and the deal will enable us to deliver data-driven odds and services for our B2B clients with an efficiency that is unrivalled in sports betting today.

Ross MacEacharn, chief executive of Perform Content, added: “We are pleased to have entered into an agreement where RunningBall will be able to take advantage of GIG Sports´ extensive network in Norway.

In addition, we look forward to contributing to GIG Sports’ betting offering in the European market.
