Nearly three months after the launch of Apple’s fashionably smart wrist wear, some analysts say it’s not a mainstream megahit. But others disagree, they see promise in its popularity with Internet-savvy people. In this article I’m going to explore the pros and cons of the Apple Watch and its convenience to mobile gambling.

Media outlets last week jumped on the study by research firm Slice Intelligence based on large sampling of email receipts in the United States, orders for Apple watch has plunged by 90%. The estimate did not factor in data about Apple Watch sales at real-world stores. It remains to be seen whether the famously tight-lipped technological company will provide insights into Apple Watch sales when it releases its quarterly earnings report.

Apple Watch Not Off To A Good Start

”The product is nice to have but not a necessity and it’s a bit hard to use” BMO Capital Markets

BMO Capital Markets analysts notified their investors that they were ”disappointed” and reduced their estimate for Apple Watch Sales in the coming year. Richard Windsor at Edison Investment Research said if Slice is way off the mark about the drop in Apple Watch orders; it’s pretty evident the smart-watch has sold far below expectations. Windsor said his single biggest disappointment was that Apple has not come up with a compelling use for the device yet and one of the main reasons why it’s underperforming.

However, Cantor Fitzgerald experts believe the Apple Watch will be a ”go-to-gift” during the year-end holiday season and might become the best-selling new product in Apple’s history. So far, no smartwatch, even a fashionably sophisticated offering by Apple has hit the market accompanied by uses so compelling that people will swarm to snap them up.

Most consumers feel why should they fork out $400 for a screen on their wrists where they can do the same thing on their mobile phones? This is a gauntlet thrown down before every maker of smartwatches or other forms of what has become known as ”wearable computing”. One thing about the smart-watch one can’t deny that it looks good.

Functionality

Those in the know believe that the Apple Watch could be one of the smartest watches ever made, it even comes with the built-in precision found in GPS satellites. If you enjoy travelling it automatically adjusts to your current location. Apple said that users can customise the screen in a “million” different ways. The Digital Crown could be used to tap into other features like making a phone call or contacting friends via a text message.

One of the stand-out features of the Apple Watch is that it allows users to keep tabs on their fitness levels. Apple is of the opinion that this is the smart-watche’s ”key selling point”. In addition it comes with an array of aps such as a maps service, allows users to view photos from other Apple devices, check the latest trending news, weather etc.

Apple Watch’ Ties To Mobile Gambling?

Ladbrokes claims that it’s the first Aussie UK-listed operator that received Apple’s approval to offer a betting app. Scott Hutchens, Ladbrokes’ chief information officer for Australia said: ”it communicates with the main Ladbrokes iOS app and will enable customers to actually bet directly from their wrist.”

Hutchens pointed out that mobile wagering currently accounts for more than 50% of the total betting turnover. He firmly believes that the Apple Watch app is more than just a novelty. Its ”unique design makes it the simplest betting interface in the world.” As the Apple Watch’ popularity grows many internet betting sites have started to explore its potential.

PlayScreen, Californian based mobile company released ‘Blackjack Anywhere’ for the new device. When players play this game they can see four cards in one go, the game even has its own audio. The player can hit by simply tapping on the button or swipe the touchscreen. On the watche’s side there are additional controls accessible via the rotary knob. William Volk, chief of Playscreen said it’s the perfect game to be played on this miniscule screen. He also said that the Apple Watch screen reminds him of the Nokia phones’ screens of yesteryear.

Conclusion

Within the forseeable future to place a bet simply by using voice commands on your Apple Watch won’t be a problem at all. This would be a very handy tool especially to players who are constantly on the move.

It’s a market use for wearables, it makes your life easier, might even help with your fitness but it doesn’t serve a basic need of communication, which is what the phone does. Online casinos have very immersive websites and game play might be affected by the modality of the Smart Watch.
