In our mission of covering all aspects of the online gaming and marketing industry, we want to include a series of interviews. The aim of these interviews is to bring this community closer and to help start the evolution of individuals that are looking to jump ahead in their career of affiliate marketeers and affiliate managers, by learning from the best.

In our first episode we’ve interviewed Sarah Bokobza, who is the Affiliate Manager at Affpower, one of our Silver sponsors.

Name: Sarah Bokobza
Age: 28
Hometown: Sarcelles, France
Living in: Netanya, Israel
Favorite Food: Pizza!!
Must Read Book: Go ask Alice
Affiliate Manager at: Affpower

EEG: First of all, tell us a bit about yourself and the affiliate program you work for. How did you get into affiliate marketing?

Sarah: I’ve always loved online marketing, ran a couple of projects more directed to online graphic design and got caught almost by chance into affiliate marketing.
And why Affpower? I love the challenge of working with a program that was created for and by affiliates. This means that Affpower aims to satisfy both sides of the coin, players and affiliates.

EEG: What was the reason you joined the gaming industry?

Sarah: I needed a change of career and always was attracted to the gaming industry. My friend Fernanda Carrascal offered me a great job at Affpower and I couldn’t say no to the opportunity of working with her!

EEG: Does your program have any East European affiliates that you manage?

Sarah: At affpower we do it all, we have affiliates from all over the world and of course if there’s no language barrier I take care of any of them. After all, I want them to succeed and will help them in any possible way to reach their goals.

EEG: Are there any super-affiliates coming from those region? We know for certain that a huge group of affiliates come from Eastern Europe.

Sarah: What do you call a super affiliate? 🙂 As said before, we have affiliates from all around the globe so yes, some of the top performing affiliates are from Eastern Europe

EEG: Could you describe one of them?

Sarah: Describe? No 🙂 but I can tell you that surprisingly, the bigger the affiliate is the more accessible and open-minded they are.

EEG: Affpower is the affiliate program for,, What markets do these casinos target, and what makes them stand out in the huge crowd of online casinos?

Sarah: We target all markets except US and Israel. Our 3 casinos are fresh, different from A to Z. Starting with the fact that we can proudly say that we promote EXCLUSIVELY the well know GameScale gaming platform to the tiniest detail of our websites design and amazing customers’ support
EEG: What are your current Rev Share plans and CPA plans you work with?

Sarah: Well, this of course depends on the type of traffic, country targets and volume but I can say with confidence that we offer up to 50% revshare and $500 CPA for dedicated affiliates

EEG: Where do you think the industry will be in 3 years, and of course, where do you see Affpower in 3 years?

Sarah: The industry is still growing; new things are coming out every day. I believe that in 3 years from now we will have a more open market where players and local laws understand the benefits of having fun from home instead of going out spending more than what you can actually afford.
Affpower is a very solid company today and I do believe we still have a lot to offer and create. We are re designing the casino concept, keeping the rules of the game fair and easy for player from all over the world.

EEG: Tell us a bit about your office? How is the team? Are there any weird things you guys do as a team or at your team buildings?

Sarah: Haha! I can’t tell you about all the weird things we are doing! We have a great team here, they are all very friendly and we are having so many funny moments! I got here 2 months ago and it feel like I’ve known them for ages!

EEG: If you would just open your Youtube search bar, what would you search for?

Sarah: Mostly music… by the way, if any of the Youtube owners read this… please take it easy with the ads, we are tired 🙂

EEG: How is Alexandre like, we know he likes DJing aswell. Does he bring music to your office and makes you listen to his mixes?

Sarah: No he doesn’t!! We are listening to the music he likes all day long but I never had the chance to listen to his mixes! 🙁

EEG: Who is your favourite celebrity and where you would love to travel?

Sarah: Angelina Jolie, she’s just amazing! I would love to travel throughout all the United States.

EEG: Where you wouldn’t want to travel?

Sarah: China, because of their food and especially because of the way they treat animals…

The gambling industry in France, un problème historique

The link between France and gambling always has been strong and could even be described as historic.

The country largely contributed to the development of gambling through time with the creation of inescapable games such as roulette (by the mathematician Blaise Pascal) and the 52 card game which gave birth to Baccarat or Shimmy (also known as Chernay).

As a consequence, it feels natural for gambling to be legal in France. But to settle on this territory, you must have a license from by several organisations:
• for betting activities: Pari Mutuel Hippodrome (PMH) and Pari Mutuel Urbain(PMU);
• for bingo lotteries and sports betting, only the Française des Jeux (FDJ) keeps the monopoly on land base activities.

Some conditions must however be respected if you want to offer gambling activities in France. For example, physical casinos can only be established in seaside and tourist towns (except Paris) and on some cruise ships with the French flag.

Since 2010, online gambling is regulated by the Autorité de Régulation des Jeux en Ligne (ARJEL), which can authorise licenses for club games (until now, only the poker is allowed), sports betting and horse races. Online casino games are forbidden in France.

Fifteen licenses have been issued by the ARJEL so far. This particularly low number of licenses can be explained by high tax rates which can frighten some operators.

However, the market is doing well as the third quarter of 2017 results show: an increase by 23% of the revenues linked to sports betting despite a year without international competition, a 10% growth of horse racing revenues and +5% for poker.

France is a market which needs to be followed especially as online casinos should be authorised very soon. The 2018 Football World Cup, with a French team considered as favorite for this new edition, should also contribute to the sector’s success thanks to high sports betting revenues.

On October 16, 2018, the inaugural European Gaming Congress in Ljubljana is set to host a panel where the state of France will be discussed directly with the regulator. To find out more details about the event make sure you follow our news.
