Games Inc names Fiona Hickey as Managing Director

Published

on

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Games Inc, the in-demand slot game studio that’s not afraid to do things a little differently, has named industry veteran Fiona Hickey as Managing Director.

Hickey brings more than 15 years of iGaming experience to the provider, having most recently spent six years at Push Gaming, where she helped to drive global growth.

This included being responsible for pursuing new market entries, scaling distribution and building fantastic commercial partnerships with operators worldwide.

She brings this experience to the Managing Director role at Games Inc, where she will be responsible for scaling the studio into a global power player.

Games Inc already has a strong technical foundation with its own remote game server and reputation for quality, as well as for bespoke game development for some of the largest operators in the industry.

It now plans to take these capabilities and experiences onto the international stage and to partner with more operators than ever before.

Over the next few months, Hickey will focus on three key areas – growing Games Inc’s distribution footprint, ramping up game output and strengthening its platform to ensure it can handle dozens of markets simultaneously.

Games Inc is laser-focused on delivering slot content at scale without compromising on quality, an approach that has seen its content land in the lobbies of tier one casino brands.

Fiona HickeyManaging Director at Games Inc, said: “I am excited to be leading such a talented team at a really pivotal moment for Games Inc.

“We’re not here to do ordinary; we’re here to deliver games that get noticed and partnerships that deliver results.

“We partner with operators and aggregators to provide games that really stand out and, unlike some, we don’t just talk about flexibility and reliability, we actually live it.

“We believe our partners come first and want to truly listen to what they want and need, not tell them what they want and need.

“This approach has seen Games Inc come a long way in a short space of time, but we are only just getting started with big things to come.”

Play’n GO games live in Land-Based casinos

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Play’n GO, the world’s leading casino entertainment provider, has today announced that its market leading portfolio of games is live in land-based casinos for the very first time in the company’s storied 20-year history.

The launch of Play’n GO’s games into land-based casinos is the product of an in-depth partnership between the Swedish company and global gaming giant Genting.

BOOM Slots, a new cabinet developed exclusively for Genting properties sees an initial batch of 13 Play’n GO titles making their land-based debuts, including the world’s most played online slot games Rich Wilde and the Book of Dead, Reactoonz, Honey Rush 100 and Buildin’ Bucks.

Play’n GO’s games have been live in the land-based sector in the United Kingdom at Genting’s iconic Resorts World Casino in Birmingham for more than six months during trials.

Rollout now accelerates to Genting’s more than 30 casino properties across the UK, including London’s largest casino, Genting Stratford, with the full rollout, featuring an initial batch of 13 Play’n GO games, scheduled for completion in December.

Genting is one of the world’s largest land-based casino operators with its premium properties stretching from Las Vegas to Malaysia.

From its origins in building casino games for mobile phones prior to the invention of the smartphone, today Play’n GO is one of the leading providers of entertainment to the casino industry, with more than 400 premium game titles available with operators in more than 35 regulated jurisdictions.

Johan Törnqvist, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Play’n GO, commented: “This is a historic day for Play’n GO and the culmination of a vision that both Genting and Play’n GO share – to bring the best of online casino content and features to casino floors worldwide.

“Play’n GO’s mission is to ‘create innovative and entertaining gaming experiences everywhere’. We are excited to expand the definition of ‘everywhere’ to include land-based casinos for the first time.

“The vision for our new land-based business is distinctly Play’n GO flavoured – ambitious, innovative, and meticulously planned to meet the business challenges and opportunities of the future. We think there is an opportunity for 10s of thousands of cabinets featuring Play’n GO content globally.

“Genting have been a brilliant partner throughout this project and we’re looking forward to working closely with their fantastic teams to build on this initial UK-facing rollout to ensure it’s a success.”

Stuart Armstrong, Product Director at Genting added: “Differentiation in a crowded land-based casino sector is vital. The launch of our new and exclusive BOOM slots product gives Genting a compelling gaming experience that no other casino can offer.

“Play’n GO’s reputation in the industry is second to none, and through this partnership we’ve been able to witness firsthand their agility and innovation to help bring this product to life.

“We know from our trial period that Play’n GO’s well known online casino content is attractive to players in land-based spaces too and we can’t wait to roll this out to all of our UK properties soon.”

The Draft for Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Rules, 2025 – India’s esports leaders welcome clear framework for growth of industry

Published

Reading Time: 3 minutes

As per a recent development, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has prepared the Draft for the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Rules, 2025 (“Draft Rules”). The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is also inviting feedback on the draft from stakeholders.

Key Highlights (Draft attached for reference):
  • The provisions relating to recognition and promotion of esport, shall be administered by the Central Government through the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
  • The draft establishes the Online Gaming Authority of India (“Authority”) to oversee the determination of whether an online game is an online money game or otherwise, recognition & registration of e-sports and online social games, compliance, grievance redressal, and enforcement.
  • The Authority will be composed of a Chairperson and five other ex officio members from various government ministries and is empowered to determine if a game is an “online money game,” register games, issue directions, and impose penalties.
  • Registration for both e-sports and social games will be managed by the Online Gaming Authority of India.
  • For an e-sport title to be registered, it must first be recognized under the National Sports Governance Act, 2025.
  • The Authority will maintain and publish a National Online Social Games and E-sports Registry containing such details of all registered online social games and e-sports as deemed necessary by the Authority and a list of online games determined as online money games by the Authority.
  • Any online game service provider intending to provide an esport, shall make an application to the Authority.
  • Upon registering an online game as an esport, the Authority shall issue a certificate of registration to the online game service provider with a unique registration number. The Certificate of Registration shall be valid and subsisting for period of up to five years as chosen by the online game service provider at the time of making an application.
  • If the registration of an e-sport is cancelled under the rules, the online game service provider of such e-sport or online social game shall not be eligible to avail of the support or incentives for promotion and development of e-sport or online social game.
  • Every online game service provider offering a registered esport, shall establish and maintain a functional grievance redressal mechanism for redressal of grievances from any user in relation to the online social games or esport offered by it.

In regard to this, please find below the quotes on behalf of India’s esports and video gaming industry stakeholders:

1. Akshat Rathee, Co-founder and Managing Director, NODWIN Gaming:

By bringing esports firmly under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, the government has recognised esports as a legitimate sport while creating a framework for structured growth. This should accelerate grassroots programs, open the door for state and district-level championships, and ensure players see a clear career pathway much like traditional sports. It also boosts investor and sponsor confidence, which is critical to scaling prize pools, infrastructure, and IP development.

At the same time, the composition, impartiality, and industry knowledge of the proposed Online Gaming Authority of India (OGAI) will be of utmost importance. We expect that the right stakeholders, those who have worked on this industry since its inception and deeply understand the ecosystem, will be included to guide it forward. Esports is one of the most aspirational industries for India’s youth, and this step ensures that companies like NODWIN Gaming can continue to build a sustainable, world-class ecosystem that competes globally while remaining rooted in India’s sporting fabric.

2. Animesh Agarwal, Co-founder and CEO, S8UL:

This is a landmark moment for India’s gaming and esports industry. Official recognition and a clear distinction provide much-needed legitimacy and clarity to players, creators, organizations, investors and other stakeholders. This distinction is important as it opens the door to greater societal and parental acceptance, encouraging new talent to pursue esports with the same dignity as cricket, football or badminton. It also reassures brands and investors that they are entering a structured, regulated ecosystem. This clarity is set to attract more brands and partners, unlocking larger sponsorships, creator collaborations, and grassroots programs. Esports in India is no longer just a trend. It’s a legitimate career path, and S8UL is leading the way.”

3. Vishal Parekh, Chief Operating Officer, CyberPowerPC India:

“The government’s focus on gaming and e-sports is an encouraging signal that India sees the sector’s cultural and economic potential. Many games today sit in a grey area between skill-based competition and social entertainment, which can make regulatory jurisdiction complex. In this context, the Online Gaming Authority of India (OGAI) will play a key role in providing clarity, aligning ministries, and ensuring a transparent and predictable registration process, so developers can innovate with confidence. Beyond registration, building a robust ecosystem, including dedicated infrastructure, training academies, recognition of players as athletes, and supportive policies, will unlock significant opportunities across jobs, startups, content creation, broadcasting, and global tournaments. With the right balance of creativity, compliance, and economic vision, India can emerge as a global hub for competitive gaming and innovation.”
