Innovations in Online Bingo & Trends to Watch

Published

on

In recent years, changes to our lifestyles and advancements in technology have been catalysts for change in the gambling industry, not least in the world of online bingo.

This ever changing landscape continues to evolve, and these trends show no sign of slowing, so let’s explore what changes modern technologies have made to the bingo industry so far, and what the future may have in store for players…

Live Dealer Bingo

Bingo has always been a social game, and history has shown that players like to feel as though they’re engaging with real people in an authentic environment. Through the use of streamed live dealer games, this effect can be simulated online.

The real-time nature of live dealer games, and the fact that there are real people on the other end, creates a much more personal experience for players. By interacting with others in a live dealer game, players also gain trust in a particular site, and are therefore more likely to return.

Gamification

Engagement is the name of the game when it comes to keeping players happy and coming back for more, and one way modern sites have found of doing this is through gamification.

Examples of this include leaderboards, which encourage healthy competition; chat games, which promote social interaction; and rewards systems, which provide players with additional incentives to play and the chance to win tickets, bonuses, virtual badges or discounts.

Gamification techniques have seen an upsurge in popularity over recent years, and their inclusion in modern online gambling is an ongoing process.

Bingo Features

Different bingo providers offer different features in their games, and some are more cutting-edge than others. To get an overview of a particular bingo site before signing up, it’s highly advisable that you take a look at advice from some of the industry’s bingo site review veterans.

By checking out a reliable expert bingo review site first, you can take advantage of the extensive experience of seasoned bingo players who can tell you which site has all the innovative features you’re looking for.

Mobile Gaming

One of the most pronounced differences in how people game and gamble in the 21st century is the monumental rise in popularity of mobile gaming. Mobile bingo apps and in-browser game sites offer players a portable, convenient and fluid bingo experience.

Modern gambling applications run so well that they require little to no compromise in terms of the experience, and they can function across platforms so that players don’t lose their progress in a game, tournament or leaderboard.

Emerging Technologies

Part of the thrill bingo offers is sharing a room with other players, affectionately referred to as ‘roomies’. Because of this central social element of bingo, virtual reality can bring a lot to the table, immersing players in a simulated bingo hall where they can interact with their roomies and enjoy a realistic atmosphere.

VR bingo halls also present opportunities for more effective branding and advertising, and the graphics provided by modern VR headsets can deliver advertisements to consumers in a more direct way.

Another emerging technology with exciting applications in the online bingo world is artificial intelligence, which is likely to become more and more prevalent in all aspects of the digital world, providing a personalised and improved customer experience through tailored promotions and game recommendations based on a player’s profile.

Cryptocurrencies

Bitcoin, Etherium, Litecoin and other cryptocurrencies have recently become part of the online bingo world, with an increasing number of sites now accepting them as valid payment methods in an attempt to distance themselves from the competition and make their site more appealing to players.

Cryptocurrencies are becoming increasingly mainstream, and many individuals prefer them for their security, so it’s highly likely that this trend will continue.

Responsible Gambling

Developments in the world of bingo have also seen a greater emphasis put on the importance of gambling responsibly, and technological advancements can be a great help here too.

There are a number of websites and tools available to players who feel that they need a little help with keeping things under control. For instance, the UK Gambling Commission is introducing new AI-powered safeguards, and numerous other tools enable players to set themselves financial limits, time restrictions, self-exclude, and to set up various personalised reminders and notifications.

Technology can help us to ensure that gambling remains within the limits of what is safe and fun.

To Conclude…

Only one thing is certain, and that’s that the way we play this fan-favourite game is likely to continue evolving alongside the relevant technologies.

The future of online bingo looks to be highly varied, extremely exciting, and dependent on a number of technologies. The variety of these technologies and their sheer range of applications is astounding, and we can expect them to impact every facet of our lives – including our beloved bingo.

The Karnataka government has announced that it will introduce a new law to regulate online betting and gaming.

Home Minister G Parameshwara said a committee of senior officials and industry representatives has been constituted and it has been given a month’s time to submit a draft of the proposed bill.

“I chaired a meeting regarding online betting and gambling yesterday along with the IT Minister. Representatives from the industry were called. There is nothing to regulate them so far. They have agreed to the introduction of a licence system and a regulation as per law,” he said.

The state government held a high-level meeting to discuss a legal framework for regulating online gaming.

IT-BT Minister Priyank Kharge said that the intent of the legislation is to curb online gambling, betting and games of chance, and protect consumers from fraud while supporting innovation and the sustainable growth of the skill-based gaming industry.

Karnataka is set to introduce a legal framework to ban gambling while permitting skill-based games following a model similar to that of Chhattisgarh.

Kharge said he held a detailed meeting with the state home minister, senior government officials, members of online gaming federations, and industry experts to discuss the proposed framework.

“The legitimate online skill-based gaming industry in India is a sunrise sector worth USD 4 billion, contributing Rs 12,000 crore in taxes and creating over 1.5 lakh jobs. Karnataka alone accounts for 25 percent of the market and contributes Rs 1350 crore annually in taxes, making it a key hub,” he said.

The minister also raised concerns over the growing underground market of offshore gambling and illegal betting.

“Alongside the legitimate sector, there is a parallel underground market that is expanding rapidly, posing risks such as predatory money collection practices, dubious shell companies, financial fraud, data breaches, and cybercrimes,” he said.

Kharge also held discussions with representatives of the E-Gaming Federation (EGF), the All India Gaming Federation (AIGF) and the Federation of Indian Fantasy Sports (FIFS) regarding their collaborative “Code of Ethics” for the industry.
